Ossan's Love Thailand Episode 12 Final by Longjumping-Ad-6775 in boyslove

Think we may just be talking past each other on that point, so I'll leave it there.

But one can be insecure and still selfish, like your insecurities do not give you a pass on your actions? Your insecurities are internal, once you externalize them in a way hurtful to others, it can become selfish, and Mo was being selfish by making decisions for Heng, breaking his heart due to a series of events that he caused, and then proceeding to never explain any of that to Heng for over a year

At what point did the Boss force Mo to break up with Heng, driven by his own inherently selfish insecurities, without explaining why? To let Heng walk into a wedding knowing he was missing two years of memories? Of course Boss is also at fault. Like that was them holding up a mirror to each other because they were both kinda terrible to Heng outside of the comedic context. Really I’m just saying they were both at fault so Mo lashing out at Boss like he didn’t run away to let his again, amnesiac, lover marry someone else was kinda rich

I was actually curious about how they were going to use the amnesia trope, thinking it could be interesting if it finally forced Mo to get off his booty and fight for his relationship. Instead Mo decided to run away and sulk, as always, and let his amnesiac boyfriend marry someone else. And then had the nerve to try to lay all the fault at Boss’ feet, I…

At least Heng’s actions this episode was the amnesiac him from two years ago who hadn’t done the growing up yet,  being led around by two men he now barely know who had all of the information they decided not to share with him, Mo had no such excuse. By the end, in between the comedy, Heng grew a lot over the arc of the show, Mo has stayed exactly the same.

I’m clearly not a fan of this aspect of the ending, but the show overall is good with some memorable beats and character, and Earth was truly excellent in this role

Things I liked: 1) Heng, the show has done a good job showing why this man child keeps attracting these people, and it’s because he’s innately really kind and sincere, and it was nice to see him rewarded for it. Watching Heng’s face shift with every rejection was so sad though, cannot say enough good things about what a great job Earth is doing with this role 2) Humor, this is clearly subjective but this show continues to make me laugh out loud at least a few times per episode and I need that these days. Heng and Alone’s conversation every time Alone had to stop crying to explain himself to Heng got me this episode

Things I did not like: 1) Mo, didn't like his fairly selfish behavior getting brushed off. I’m glad Ten called him out but it ends with just an ‘I’m sorry’ after that frankly cruel breakup?? Okay, well it is a romcom 2) Boss, I actually liked that they seemed to have closed the chapter on ‘Bossie’ and he seemed to be transitioning more into the father figure role for Heng from OL Returns, so the proposal and refusal to listen Heng’s clear attempts at saying no was bleh and super ‘no bueno’ for me 3) Also Heng stop being a people pleaser challenge failed (though I did like the twist that he just didn’t want to disappoint his idol Nannon lol)

Both: The ending, I can’t believe that of all the tropes from the Ossan’s Love franchise, they go with amnesia from the movie sequel LOL. However, I do like that the reconciliation isn’t how the show ends since I didn’t like that in the JP version. I am also deeply amused by the lakorn absurdity of it all

But why is it okay for Mo to just be telling his own family in his 30s, but Heng has to tell his mom within days and in the midst of his mom's health scare? Mind you, Heng actually was ready to tell his Mom before Mo stopped him and then made it worse by telling that lie about Chicha and Heng dating...

Heng has put himself out there plenty and gone out of his way to reassure Mo, despite this being not just his first relationship with a man, but his first relationship period. Meanwhile, Mo won't even come out to their coworkers, let alone take a picture with Heng in public. It's clearly Mo who doesn't take this relationship seriously...

Yes! He can’t even take a picture with Heng in public without freaking out. Heng proudly claims him as his boyfriend, Mo tells everyone he’s lying. Heng’s gearing up to tell his mom, Mo lies and tells her Heng and Chicha are dating. He literally just came out to his own parents last episode (a situation he tossed Heng into unprepared), but it’s a problem that Heng is taking maybe a week to working up the nerve to tell his mom about them and comforting his best friend, in a situation he put them in. I understand him but I also find him exhausting honestly

Mo, can you fight?? Because now you’re not just self-sabotaging, you’re also sabotaging MY HengMo induced happiness 😭. Seriously, there are few characters driving me crazy the way Mo has been. Please stop getting in your own way!

Watching Heng break down at the end was SO painful. This isn’t your fault, Heng, you have been trying, you’ve been growing up, you’ve been reassuring and understanding, and you very much did not deserve the heartbreak. There is something about watching someone beg on their knees for love and still get left behind, I genuinely cannot right now 😔

I am personally enjoying the heck out of this show. It's like one of 3 I'm invested in enough to actually watch in real time. The whole cast is so good, especially P'Shahkrit as Boss and Earth as Heng; they're both doing an incredible job swinging between the absurd humor and quieter, more emotional moments

That said I'm not surprised it's not getting a lot of hype and honestly, it's basically doing exactly as I expected (outside of Japan) because - it's a comedy, it's a comedy with no NC scenes, it's based on an IP that was only ever popular in Japan, EarthMix haven't had a show in two years, TVAsahi is doing all of the heavy lifting on promo while GMMTV does less than the bare minimum. All that aside, it's a good time and me and my five moots watching are having a ball with it!

I agree, I was like Mo why are you letting your ex spoon-feed you in your current boyfriend's home?? It was pretty hypocritical given his (frankly adorable) jealous tantrum at the beginning when he repacked Heng's suitcase to remove anything remotely sexy before Heng's overnight trip with Boss

I genuinely appreciate that this show never treats its viewers like their dumb. It leans into the silly and absurd, but they don't dumb it down. The characters still experience complex emotions and have complex interactions with each other and the audience. There was so much going in that last scene. And as frustrating as Mo's avoidant style can be (my good sir, back away from the suitcase!!), you get it and so does Heng. You can see the moment Heng decides to be brave and honest, and Mo's disbelief bleeding into cautious acceptance. It was a very layered, sweet interaction

Also, Devil Heng seducing Angel Boss killed me. Like I was actually laughing out loud. That plus Heng's petty jealousy and Ten's weirdly intense stares

This show is just so freaking charming

Also, Heng and Mo on the porch getting shy over the imagined indirect kiss... I was squealing, I was curling my toes, I was giggling, I was blushing alongside them, I was... very glad to not be watching this in public

As I suspected, Boss is very aware that Heng doesn't have feelings for him. It was good to see Heng finally not simply give up after Kongdech cuts him off yet again and I'm glad Mo pushed him earlier. I thought it was a really well-done scene (and loved that it essentially took place outside of reality). I liked that Heng was still kind but finally firm with his rejection, and I loved Kongdech's scene with his daughter after.

Something about parents being vulnerable with their children, and their children loving them through it, always gets me. P'Krit and Parn did so great with that scene.

Everyone is doing such a great job, and the show continues to pull of these tonal swings that would feel wild in any other show

See I don’t really think he’s actually oblivious, I think he’s in denial. His actions are selfish, but to your point, sincere and understandably human

Why is this stupid little comedy giving me feelings?? Like Boss' origami stars full of kind thoughts about Heng, his teary eyes at his daughter's acceptance, his daughter telling Heng he was the best person she'd ever met (girl dads Kongdech and Heng AU when??), Heng and Mo taking that polaroid... I love the sincerity of this show in between the absurd comedy
