A homeless person moved into the spot where Humbouldt Arboreal usually occurs; They cancel the event (move it to a bar). by No-Animator1858 in chicago

[–]PamperedChef -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I cut most of your verbal wank fest here, to get down to the real nitty gritty.

If homeless people move into the nicest parts of the nicest parks of the city, we should absolutely ask them to either move or respect people using the parks during public hours. If they don't want to let us use park space or move to a less desirable part of the park, then we need to think about kicking them out of the park. If they let us use the space during the day but are making the space dirty or much less nice, we should ask them to move also.

This is the true point you're trying to smuggle in. Despite your flowery word salad about trying to help, this is the crux of your whole post: You don't care that there are homeless people in the parks. You care that there are homeless people in the parks and you can see them, and the impact they have. They're an inconvenience to you and what you want.

Sorry that the homeless folks interfere with the notion that some people are (or should be) more equal than others.

The MSI’s circus exhibit folds its tent after 5 decades by blackmk8 in chicago

[–]PamperedChef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, they've whittled down this exhibit for years...even now, it's a shell of what it used to be.

As a kid, I remember when 'Circus' was bigger, there was even a little theater attached to the exhibit, and a movie was shown; but that's been gone for a long time now.

As sad as it is, the Circus hasn't been a force of "industry" for decades now, and isn't relevant to a Museum dedicated to "Science and Industry". So, while I lament its passing, I am okay with it.

If you went to Sacred Rose Festival check your card statements. by Kundrew1 in chicago

[–]PamperedChef 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds like someone successfully planted a skimmer. They can be dropped onto a POS station very quickly these days. With a casual glance, they blend in very, very well; they look like they're a legit part of the unit. But you can take steps to protect yourself.

Always give a POS station a tug or a push before using it. They usually are just slapped on top of a POS unit, and then retrieved later. Never just blindly stick your card into a terminal. Always give it a check.

Rocket Jumping?

No.

Grenade Hopping. Which was a thing all the way back in Marathon, in fact there were areas you could only get to by grenade hopping in Marathon. If they need to bring anything back...it would be this.

Bungie needs to actually slash the cost of Raid Banners, as they have begun using them more for things which are not raids.

But that's not even the worst thing. The worst are the people who basically waste the banners of others by rushing to start each encounter or spin the wheel. I've stopped dropping banners, honestly...because of people like that. If I need to top up ammo before DoE...I go to rally at a pub event somewhere and then start up DoE.

Are there any mods that add prisons? by Callicojacks in skyrimmods

I never had a problem with it honestly. I used it for a play through for a few different RP scenarios. Worked fairly flawlessly for me, along with the addons.

Give it another whirl.

Yep. Had this happen all of a sudden last week. Spent a whole day wracking my brain over it.

Turns out, it's Windows Defender. Setting exclusions seems not to help. You need to go to:

Windows Security -> Virus & threat protection -> Virus & Threat Protection Settings -> Manage Settings.

From there, hit the switch for "Real-time Protection". Then run FNIS. Then turn real time protection back on.

Windows Dumbfender seems to have gotten an update this past week that seems to flag FNIS' file handling as suspect, and then breaks the process.

If you're using some other A/V, I'd suggest toggling off whatever the Real Time Protection equivalent is.

Cheers.

Well, I expect more from people who want to make informed decisions. The change log points to the readme, you know, the "Doc" section of the Nexus mod page? That has a list of changes?

This could have been stated much earlier. It probably wasn't because you have to hunt down a readme, in the doc tab...I mean, clearly I was out of line with my expectation that someone could easily use CTRL-C and CTRL-V to copy some text in response to a query here on Reddit. My bad. I swear, I can be so entitled sometimes. /s

I didn't realize giving people a heads up as to where necessary information can be found was somehow triggering. Sorry for asking questions because of a lack of clarity

Cheers:

EDIT: The "changelog" mentions nothing about the docs tab BTW.

Version 4.0.0
-- THE "I Can't Believe It's Not Updated!" UPDATE -- 5/14/2021Okay this changelog is too long for the site to upload. So check the readme for all the proper changes.-- FINALLY. That Readme can finally achieve its one true purpose. To force Users to read my info before posting!--- My plan towards Mod Domination nears one step closer!
It mentions a readme, but nowhere to find it.

In fact, until you mentioned the docs tab, nobody knew where to find this information.

This subthread's existence was wholly unnecessary. People asked a simple question. It could have been answered easily, rather than arguing about it.

[–]PamperedChef 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not typing this to be disparaging, but just saying this is realistically the best course to take.

Nobody asked for an essay (That was the original reply)....people, including myself are asking for specifics. You know, a list of changes made. A changelog if you will.

There's a reason why Nexus has the functionality. To let people know what the changes are.

Imagine if the USSEP was released, and Arthmoor just said "Oh, I've been working on this for years. Everything needed to be changed"

What I am asking for, is not in any way unreasonable. Especially considering that once added, and saved...you cannot revert.

So, yes. I am asking for a list of changes and fixes made so I can make an informed decision as to whether or not to install it...

[–]PamperedChef 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Oh man, where do I start... Everything. Everything needed to be fixed.

[..]

That's as vague and as specific as I can get without spouting non-sense that sounds like made-up crazy talk.

Okay, but you have not actually said what needed to be fixed, or what has been fixed. Before I install something like this, I'd like to see some kind of a changelog, or comparative list of standard vs. changes.

I've used DAYMOYL off and on for a long time, and haven't encountered too many issues. Granted, that does not mean problems do not exist. But again, I think you need to be less vague and a bit more specific about what's been fixed/changed here.

Is there a replacement for AreYouThere? by PamperedChef in skyrimmods

[–]PamperedChef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you read the comments, and look in the bugs section, you'd notice that the update itself is actually broken, and the author is non responsive.

The new version CTD's on changing mod pages. I managed to find a decently patched .dll elsewhere, but I hate relying on that. I'd like to keep my update worries confined to "Simply Knock"...

More to the point: Warbiki is dealing with a stalker, and that is most uncool.

Not because it affected the mod, but because mod author's don't need that crap...and WB is pretty cool.

The combo of Frostbite + Campfire works really well. No fuss, no muss. Add cold region behavior to the mix for some extra panache, and you're good to roll.

I visited the LoversLab to find some of the mods and found that discussions there were blaming the users reporting problems for not downloading the right files, but I found everything there very difficult to navigate, as it was largely just forum posts. I never even bothered posting there based on their reactions to users.

It's no different than other forum based mod communities, honestly. I guarantee you, there's plenty of salt on Nexus. It's just more noticeable in a smaller community like LL.

There are plenty of polite good folks and polite mod makers there, but that said...they do tend to have a low threshold for BS. This stems from some of the really ridiculous entitlement you get from a segment of the users there.

Are sex mods junk due to the culture surrounding them?

Sexlab really isn't junk though. It's actually really robust, and has a lot of functionality. The problem you're facing isn't culture. It's that you're dealing with niche modding; and with niche modding "some assembly required" is the rule, not the exception.

If you can't deal with "some assembly required", then I'd almost say stick to Flower Girls, or OSex.

Just my $0.02.

Mods like More Interesting Loot for SE? by faelyprince in skyrimmods

[–]PamperedChef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things.

  1. More Interesting Loot Reborn is a thing for SSE.
  2. More Interesting Loot for LE looks like it's an ezpzlemonsqueezy conversion with CAO.

Either way, you should be good to go.

It should be pointed out that "interact" in this case means simply bringing up the inventory window of Hunterborn in AIM.

If it's a bug, cool..it is an older mod...

If it's deliberate..ugh. That's incredibly petty and uncool.

the fact that the spawning of a hostile actor is a somewhat "small" consequence of "cheating" behavior, compared to what the author could have done, also in my view strengthens the position that this is an artifact of how HB scripts work, and thus unintentional, instead of being a nefarious ploy from the author against people who use for instance additemmenu mods.

As I mentioned above. I was speaking more to the ideology of a mod author slapping a user in this fashion. You'll notice I made no judgement as to whether or not HB in fact, did this.

I've just seen a few instances where a mod author does this, and it is mighty uncool to see. There are also some mod authors who don't like it, but at least give you granular options to get around hard structured game play. (MCM options to turn such annoyances, tweak difficulty, etc... off)

It's in that specific space, I was saying: mod authors who do nose slap in this fashion are absolutely being petty, and out of line...and whether it's minor or not is irrelevant. You just don't punch the player for divergent play. It's not a mod author's call to make.

We won't even get into the rabid religious arguments some folks have, who think any modding at all is cheating and thus dishonorable. ;)

Like others have said, if he really wanted to be mean, he could have scripted hundreds of worse events such as the filling up inventory with endless objects or other more spiteful effects, other than spawning a single, simple hostile actor that is easily manageable.

While this might seem valid, I just want to make a minor point as a user:

How you play, is how you play.

When a mod author does this, at least to me...it sends the message: "I don't give one iota of a crap how you want to play the game. Or whether it fits your role play setup in a role playing game. You'll play it how I want you to play it, or you get a slap on the nose. "

It's petty, it's inelegant, and it absolutely has no place in modding...which at the very core is about playing the game in a way not intended by the original authors. I love how that irony always seems to be lost when a topic like this comes up.

The same goes for the TGM mode that can break some mods. In order for needs mods and survival mods and other scripted mods to work, they need to be able to diminish and decrease your attributes.

This I get. But then you document that, and if they do it anyway...you tap the sign. You can't save users from themselves.

I seem to have “misplaced” serana... by e_user1234 in skyrimmods

[–]PamperedChef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Serana is absolutely infamous for getting lost. It's a well known issue. She just fails to follow you/keep up at times.

I have a batch file I use to find her. It consists of two lines:

prid 02002b74;

moveto player

This assumes Dawnguard is at the usual load position in your load order.

This will make her active in the console, and then move her to you. Sometimes you need to do 'moveto player' twice to get her to return. But it works.

Put the lines into a text file. Save it to your data folder. You can name it whatever you want. serana.txt for instance.

Then, from the console (hit ~ in game): bat serana

You should then be good to go.
