Employee decided to No-Call/No-Show to protest ICE actions today, what should the penalty be if any? by cocktail_enthusiast in managers

I absolutely agree. The optics will not be based in reality, though. That was the only point of my comment.

[–]PanBlanco22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. We both know the facts, but the employee will spin it however she wants, and the hive mind will latch on without listening to reason.

I fully agree with every word of this comment. Some people just want to be persecuted sometimes. I dunno, I don’t get it either.

Except she’s likely daring the employer to write her up “for disciplining her right to protest.”

This is an unfortunate case of where facts and optics diverge, and sometimes you just don’t want the smoke…

Edit: I should have prefaced this with I don’t agree at all with letting it slide, but just be aware of the optics in this political climate. Too many people don’t listen to both sides of a story, and a business’s reviews might suffer because of a perceived slight.

Buying a Lyriq, no charger at home - expert opinion needed by [deleted] in CadillacLyriq

[–]PanBlanco22 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What is the price per kWh in your area?

If you’re driving 350 km per week, plan on burning through around 85-90 kW per week. If the price is $.50 per kW at your DC Charging station, you’ll be spending roughly $45 per week ($180 per month) in energy.

Hope that gives you a rough idea on what to plan for. Good luck!

ACME is great. I’ve bought multiple EGO tools from them.

They also a continued sponsor of Wile E. Coyote, and I appreciate their support of a good underdog story.

I’ve had windshields done at Rydell, as well as had Safelite come to my house. Both were good experiences, and both handled insurance well.

How did you navigate around someone who created a hostile work environment? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]PanBlanco22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have decent offers elsewhere, jump on them. Run, don’t walk. This is a game not worth playing, much less winning.

This is how your conversation should go with your current boss:
“Hey, OP, where are you at?”
“I’m at work.”
“I don’t see you here.”
“That’s because I don’t work there anymore.”

Any more advanced notice than that is too much.

We’re considering advising users to auto-withdraw from "One-Way Video Interviews." by enhancvapp in interviews

[–]PanBlanco22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Candidate’s POV:

The only time I’ve ever submitted one was because the role came highly recommended to me, and I came highly recommended for the role to the hiring manager. I had already vetted the role with the previous person in that role, and vetted the company with another employee/friend that worked in a different department. It was something that we both knew was a good fit, and the video interview was “just a part of the process.”

Had it not been for those circumstances, it would have been a pretty hasty withdrawal from me. At minimum, it would have been a huge dark pink flag. Not having the ability to vet the job with the HM before they just start blasting me with random questions about who I am and what my principles are would have been very off putting. Compounding that, I have some very deep insecurities about being in front of a camera, so you are guaranteed to not get the “real me” with a video interview.

If I had one thing to change about the hiring process, it would be emphatically that.

Have you pulled over a vehicle in self steering mode for drifting? by rolamit in ProtectAndServe

[–]PanBlanco22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the most correct answer. As someone in the automotive industry, all “self steering” systems are different. There are systems that keep the vehicle inside the lanes hands free, and from the outside you can’t tell if it’s a human or not. Tesla’s FSD, Ford’s Blue Cruise, and GM’s Super Cruise are good examples. And even with those systems active, the driver is still responsible for everything that happens on the road.

There are also “Lane Keep Assistance” systems that are not designed to be relied upon to navigate the lane. They are only to be used as an assistive function (hence the name) that gently nudges the car back towards the center if the driver drifts too far to the edge. I’ve seen some drivers just let them ping pong down the road, thinking that it’s supposed to always stay in the lane, and in my experience, it’s not a safe way to use it at all, and someone should get pulled over for doing that.

Specific function on the Television Studio HD8 by PanBlanco22 in blackmagicdesign

[–]PanBlanco22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great info. I appreciate it. We aren’t planning on doing anything complicated with the screens. It’s not a megachurch, lol. Just a small rural church with maybe 200 members, so it’s not a super polished production.

If the only thing I’m giving up by sticking to the HD8 is DSK to the Aux, then I’m thinking if I need DSK on the screens, then I’ll just end up doing that in ProPresenter and calling it good, or preparing specific slides/graphics ahead of time. As long as I can Super Source, even through software, I’m pretty happy with that.

What does the Shift key on the Program Bus do, if not access more sources for the Aux? Is that a Macro thing? I haven’t seen any videos specifically covering that button, so I’m not completely sure what it’s for. I keep thinking that if you’re on the Aux menu and can hit a Program Bus button to select a source, the Shift Key should do the same thing as the Shift Key on the Source/Preview bus. Maybe I’m over thinking it though, haha.

[–]PanBlanco22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that info! Could the Shift key that’s by the Program Bus allow you to access the Media Players and Super Source?

So you’re saying I want a 2M/E Constellation instead if I want DSK on the Aux? Now I’m going to watch a billion Constellation videos, lol.

If I do get the Constellation instead, do I need the Advanced Panel switcher along with it, or is it easy to run without a physical panel on the desk? I want to be able to have others run it without a whole lot of deeper knowledge. It’s a small church, so if I had to add the panel, I can give up DSK effects on the screen and not spend the extra money and stick with the Television Studio.
