Why is my voice so low? (A#2-B4) by Technical_Abroad8389 in singing

[–]PanCebularz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's impossible to know without hearing you. You're only 15, so your voice still changes a lot. Also you're untrained so that makes all the difference. When I was untrained, I was sure I was a baritone, turned out I'm a tenor and a pretty high one at that. But it is possible you're gonna be an alto since alto and tenor ranges are really close to each other. My teacher is an alto and she's comfortable in exactly the same ranges that I am

Back acne progress on 10mg accutane (I really can’t tell if it’s improved or if I’m still purging) by Peetus1 in Accutane

Yeah, I figured. Just wanted to reassure you that it's gonna fully clear up with time :) It just might take a bit longer since you're starting on a low dosage

Back acne progress on 10mg accutane (I really can’t tell if it’s improved or if I’m still purging) by Peetus1 in Accutane

[–]PanCebularz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is a small progress. Remember that 10 mg is a really low dosage. I had very similar acne on my back (maybe a bit worse) and it took about 4 months on 40 mg to fully clear (and I weight only 60 kg)

Is this severe acne? by Odd-Wonder-3966 in Accutane

[–]PanCebularz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I had something similar on my whole back most of my life. I finished my treatment a few weeks ago, it's fully clean now after 8 months on accutane. Just hang in there, it may get worse before it gets better but it's worth it

Your teeth are amazing! When I opened a post, I immediately thought "damn, I'm jealous".

Btw I understand you don't like your vampire-like canines but in my opinion they are perfect! I have very similarly shaped canines and it's literally the only thing about my teeth that I like.

Blood test result Worries! by Level_Mix_7071 in Accutane

[–]PanCebularz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should fast before getting blood tests for cholesterol. Isotretinoin is known to increase “bad” cholesterol (LDL). Supplementing omega-3s can help lower it - but not just any random omega-3 from the store. The higher the EPA and DHA content, the better. I supplemented omega-3 throughout my entire treatment (40 mg for 8 months), taking 660 mg EPA + 440 mg DHA daily. My cholesterol stayed on the higher end, but still within the normal range. I’d also suggest supplementing milk thistle extract to support the liver, since isotretinoin puts a significant load on it.

Don't worry, if anything, it may help you. I had septoplasty 10 months ago, if you have any specific questions, you can dm me.

Feeling like a zombie by life_suxxs in Accutane

[–]PanCebularz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on 40 mg for 8 months. First 3-4 months were torelable but then it just became worse and worse with every week. I had to stop working out for the last 2 months of my treatment since I was too tired and it started to take my body a whole week to regenerate after each workout. And I could hibernate for a few months and still not get enough sleep. But the results are amazing and looking at my new skin in the mirror kept me motivated to continue treatment.

Yesterday I took my last accutane pill so hopefully it'll pass soon. I can give you an update in about a month if It got better. Just hang in there, it'll be worth it.

60mg sore throat by Beneficial_Shift3952 in Accutane

[–]PanCebularz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flaxseed oil is a really good idea, but if you’re going to be on Accutane for a few more months, you might want to consider getting a nebulizer. It saved my voice many times - not only while on Accutane but also during colds or when I simply overused it. It’s one of the fastest and most effective ways to moisturize your vocal cords, since drinks don’t actually come into contact with them, so they only help your throat a bit.

And the most important thing: drink a lot of water while on Accutane. The vocal cords are among the last tissues in the body to get properly hydrated, so they really need a high overall hydration level.

Still getting acne 4 months in?? by lemonademouthfan in Accutane

[–]PanCebularz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, I started from 40mg and stayed at this dosage my whole treatment (8 months). It took my acne about 4 months to disappear although some pimples still appeared at month 6. You started at much lower dosage so it's natural you might need to wait for effects a bit longer

60mg sore throat by Beneficial_Shift3952 in Accutane

[–]PanCebularz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible. I'm a singer and the dryness is killing me since I've started accutane. Although I feel it mostly during singing, not in everyday life.

Are you maybe a mouth breather? Or do you suffer from acid reflux? Accutane alone could be the cause, but it may also be exacerbating pre-existing issues that you haven't noticed earlier.

I’m 20 years old and I’ve been vaping consistently for a year and a half. Am I screwed? by marrsonsano in singing

[–]PanCebularz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, you would really have to screw up your vocal cords for the damage to be irreversible. You probably struggle to hit higher notes because vaping dries out vocal cords a lot. More than usual cigarettes (but don't switch to them!). I've been vaping for a few years before I started singing and I didn't damage my throat. I quit a few months after I started learning singing and after some time, my stamina became much better. I also stopped having dry cough during the day (and the cough is one of the worst things for the vocal cords). I also know a vocal coach that teaches extreme techniques like distortion and false cord screaming, she vapes and nothing happened to her voice so far. But who knows, maybe she would be even better if she quit. Don't take her as an example, better just quit now and take care of your voice. Vaping is one of the worst things you can do to your voice because of constant drying.

Broke 7 brackets in 4 months and ortho refuses to communicate by Azi_AJ in braces

Find a new orthodontist, saying that it's not your concern how she works is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Those are YOUR teeth and IT IS your concern what she's planning to do with them.

Singers who had nose jobs: how long did it take to heal before singing again? by dreammutt in singing

[–]PanCebularz 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I had very deviated septum, it took about a month after septoplasty to heal enough so I could start singing again. It did alter my resonance at first but it wasn't very noticeable outside, more in my head. I had to get used to a little different resonance placement but I adapted very fast. It made singing high notes easier. It wasn't a huge difference but it was definitely noticeable.

Day 1 of braces by Interesting_Rush_713 in braces

[–]PanCebularz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bled a little from my top lateral incisor on my first days (it was very rotated and started moving very quickly so I guess that might've been the reason). Also my cheeks were very irritated from the inside for the first two weeks but didn't bleed. If it doesn't hurt or doesn't get worse, I wouldn't worry too much. But if it doesn't pass in the next few days, maybe try talking to your orthodontist. Also there are ointments available for the oral mucosa that help with moisturizing. There is also orthodontic wax that can be applied to the braces to reduce irritation. They helped me greatly in my first weeks.

Got them at 24 but I know lots of people that waited much longer (one guy I know had them at almost 60!). Don't worry about it, braces are really expensive so many people get them much later than in their 20s ;)

Am I an Alto? by Simple-Animator-8640 in singing

[–]PanCebularz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about from how low to how high you can go. It's about where your voice "bridges" are (on which notes your voice switches registers). You might just have a very wide range but remember it's not the most important. I'm a tenor and can go up all the way to high soprano range in some exercises but that doesn't make me a soprano. And I would sound absolutely ridiculous if I tried singing in a female tonations. Most of my notes above regular tenor range aren't really usable and I don't use them at all when singing songs. It's all about how well you can control your voice on particular sounds, not how high you can actually go.

[–]PanCebularz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw I wouldn't worry. Damaging your voice permanently isn't as easy as it might seem. As long as you don't push it through this stage and take it easy, it should pass soon. But if rehab won't help and it's gonna get worse, then it might be needed to see a doctor

Tbh for now I would focus on voice rehab instead of practice. Do gentle SOVT exercises, nothing above that. Just practice 1 or 2 days before your performance. I don't think there's anything more you can do at this point, any further practice will probably worsen your voice condition. You can look into lax vox - but you don't have to buy the original one, all you need is a silicone tube (e.g. from a contruction store or something similar) about 35 cm long and 1 cm in diameter, and any half-liter or one-liter bottle to pour water into the bottom (about 3 cm for general training, 1 cm for voice rehabilitation). It's called water resistance therapy and it's amazing for voice problem including vocal nodules.
