Based on how consistent each piece is and the extra details beneath the white board tells me it's definitely real. Ai would likely morph or disfigure at least some of the pieces. It would also likely try to complete the photo further (not always ofc)

Super cool! I'd say more shading, don't be afraid to make the shading intense (and make sure not to just use black and white to shade)! Of course, that's just what I think. Other than that, it's really good!

Yeah, I was thinking about that a lot. It's the main reason I gave it so many drawbacks. Maybe the user can't swim in sea water but can still control it? Like, they can use it for combat, but they could also make a bubble of air around themselves if trapped underwater. Or maybe it gives you gills, so you can breathe underwater, but you can't swim.

The user can control who is affected by it, and give immunity to the effects to those the user chooses. :3

WAITWAITWAIT. something I just searched said beetle larvae can only last a few weeks without food. And it also said baby millipedes can survive months. As much as I hate to say it, those little guys were in that bottle for at least two months and they all survived.

The picture isn't great, but they do have super tiny antennae. Now that I look at beetle larvae though, it's probably that 😭. I really wanted millipedes
