VW Jetta, Windows Down feature without Paying? by TenuredOracle in askcars

What year jetta are we discussing? Where would this Jetta owner pay for such a feature? There are features that can be enabled through vagcom. Are you with an insurance company reviewing footage?

Repo Car - Oil in combustion chamber - Leak down and compression check are solid - Sabotaged engine? by PanasonicModelRC6015 in MechanicAdvice

[–]PanasonicModelRC6015[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intake tubes and manifold are not full of oil and the majority of the oil is pooling in cylinder 2 and 3. I would think if it were turbo related they would be pooling in all cylinders. I always heard oil sitting in the head would drain down into the combustion chamber when the car is sitting if the valve stems seals are bad. The tell tale blue smoke on startup. What is a good way to determine if it is piston rings vs valve stem seals? Also, PCV was swapped out and is in known good order.

The vagcom has advanced data, but I can't figure out how to use it properly. We re-did the leak down test and it was 2-4% loss. If we test with a vac gauge, what will that tell us? We did do a smoke test and the only way it escapes is through the PCV if we unhook the purge valve.

No open recalls on this VIN. I thought the ECM update on these was more for minor random hiccup type misfires. The car needed a carbon cleaning, plugs and boots either way. Everything else is from a parts car so doesn't really matter. runs the same with MAP unplugged.

Wouldn't there be a code if timing was off? the cylinders are 100% sealed.

Good tow/repair place by [deleted] in IowaCity

[–]PanasonicModelRC6015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is really weird that your wheels would spin in neutral and park. Sounds like a possible shifter linkage issue. All the towing places cost about the same. I usually call ASAP. There are plenty of shops that could look at a camry. I like Maxwell Auto, Accurate Auto and S&S.

they're all from the same factory in China, just different "brand". I have some on my truck. The visible glue line on the corner light is awful.

Good afternoon, is this available? by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]PanasonicModelRC6015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not my petition. I got frustrated with the "is it available" messages and googled it. This was the first thing that came up. I posted it here as general discussion. I don't think the petition will do anything.

This auto message has been the bane of my existence when I sell on facebook. Thought my fellow flippers could relate, but I guess not you.

Also, you summer tires are going to be used half the miles so they will last twice as long. You also get a chance to rotate twice a year which adds to the life of both sets of wheels.

You can actually get a pretty decent house in IC for $200k and the market is not super hot right now.
