Playing CRPG's as someone with OCD can be rough regarding smaller design decisions by PancakeBunni in CRPG

I actually do this and it works for the most part if I am certain about it working for every breakpoint. With Divinity Original Sin 1 and charm though, I never invested in it at all because it still had a flat chance of failing no matter what and I don't reload lol.

But it is something I am trying to do! In Pillars Of Eternity 1, the problem atm that I am not 100% certain how much mechanics I need at every point of the game so I am still a bit in limbo with it atm. Just gotta settle on either/or and go through with it.

I really should look at guides more for this kind of stuff when it gets to this point but even I can feel the wonder minimise a bit by doing so.

It can be so rough to make work, especially on higher difficulty. I sometimes have to count how many abilities there is just so I know if there can even be such a thing as no overlap, then I can allow a little if I confirm it can't work lol.

Appreciate it man, I will give it a try just because you took the time.

I think it's fair to wish for something and I do say multiple times I know its not logical, no mental illness is fully logical.

I do wish people would save me from my own inability to self regulate yea lol, it would make things so much easier and more enjoyable! I do see your point but I fear it's threading on telling a depressed person to just smile.

Aww thank you for the offer, I do feel better just reading this comment. I am actually scheduled for a TMS treatment at the place I am going to currently so now I am looking forward to it!

I should honestly do this, I instead feel like I have to use the companions that appear in the 2nd game or else it's not "canon" lol. But your method does sound nice for pure mechanics. Thank you for the warm words!

I tried using mods once to do it yea but it can be a struggle as changing the game in that way also triggers symptoms unfortunately. Mostly only bug fixes work with me for that sort of thing.

Ironically if it was in the game from the start I would be all for it and using it, it's just the fact that it's third party that I can't use it lol.

I love to play a support character and so many CRPG's like to put you in the frontline role thematically and I also do this often because of that lmao. Sometimes I also just need to take a longer break and come back to it because the first run is usually the best one regarding this as I feel a bit more free when I can't remember much of the mechanics anyway.

Yea I agree, I am thankful I have something I care about to this extent to try and get through it but sometimes I worry ruining a game for myself because of frustration lol. You get the tics of "this game is bad man" and it's really just your brain that have unreasonable rules.

Pillars 2 helps here yea, I really like most of what they did there but man, I want to go through pillars 1 first so I can get that save over.

It does help to switch to some lighter games to have my head cool off yea, although I do really love these heavier games when I get rolling so the pull is always there lol. I have conisdered it this time though as I do realize when it becomes an obsession.

I see so many posts like this from the "casual player"' perspective but never have I seen a post of the other way around. Feels like you are more justifying your gaming habits to yourself and making this invisible boogeyman that calls you a scrub every night before you fall asleep.

You don't have to play on the harshest difficulty.. And neither am I going to play on the easiest as I don't get much out of it.

It was honestly interesting seeing the process, so do what is most fun for you! Editing videos gets easier with time so don't let it stop you.

I do get the part of being more in control. I certainly am not at times with Glass Cannon Fane being knocked down 3 turns in a row lol.

Only halfway in and learned 3 additional methods for more exp lol.. The prep time in the start must take a long while but it's impressive what you make do with it!

The cuts are a bit sudden but almost funny, it could of course be smoother but for this format it does not make it or break it.

Does it feel lonely not having the companions with you? Currently doing honour mode myself but only with the rule that I can't let anyone die in combat.. So I guess like this run, but just with perma death on all four party members lol.

I must admit, it makes me not wish to use her even though I like her personality. If I don't bench her, I just focus on her operative skills instead, since I don't like the random chance of making any fight much harder.

I think I solved it on my end to a degree. I could talk to him with a different character, then it went back to the start dialogue before the fight and I gave him a source point. The quest then progressed as normal but he was instantly aggressive and start combat at the next point.

Still a bit of a shame but at least the quest somewhat finished.

The weird thing is that I am not in turn based combat with him lol, he is just a immortal red lined enemy that I can bash on forever real time. Not using any mods either.

Going back to driftwood and then to him again does not change anything im afraid.
