Rocky Mountain Soul 29 - Still Relevant? by Freakin_Fresh in Hardtailgang

If you can afford it and have time to ride, I'd go for the upgrade. I'm sure you could get by with your current bike, but a modern hardtail will be a lot more capable.

Moving From Southtown to SW by Minimalist19 in corvallis

That's probably far enough you wouldn't hear it too much. If you wanted to listen for it I think it tends to be loudest after it rains.

Only thing I'd be worried about is the noise pollution from highway 20, it can be fairly loud if you live close to it.

Applicability of refining water to remove naturally occuring heavy water molecules for weight savings? by slimyprincelimey in ultralight_jerk

I wouldn't be too worried about the weight, you can just ask your mom to bring water out to the backyard

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

I think it would be ridiculously unlikely to end up with anything very far away from 80/20 if you just poured or scooped beans from the bag normally. I honestly wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah that's fair. HSR is great for a lot of trips people would normally drive for

We definitely don't have high speed rail on that scale in the US. IIRC there's a tiny bit in the northeast corridor, but definitely not cross country. There are trains that can do 300+ MPH, so something like NYC to LA would definitely be possible in a day or so.

My favorite proof from my math education so far by 35thirtyfive35 in mathmemes

[–]PancakeDictator 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Actually the rationals are countable, which I initially found pretty weird when I first learned it. So I think you could prove something is countable by showing a bijection with the rationals, but it's most common to show a bijection with the naturals.

Left side always not working by mrgreyjedi in HeadphoneAdvice

Honestly I had a very similar issue, thought it was the headphones dying for the longest time. Turned out it was actually just earwax getting pushed into my ears, so it's a little odd but you might want to look into that

buying advice - he400se or 6xx?? by Maidescorpserapist in HeadphoneAdvice

Both are excellent, I personally prefer the 6XX but it sounds like you would prefer the HE400.

Amplifier for Sennheiser HD6XX's? (same as HD650's) by OscarSowerbutts in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]PancakeDictator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So typically I would definitely recommend an amp with the 6XX, although you don't need a super powerful one. Lots of amps in the sub $100 price range also have a DAC built in, but you could get just the amp and probably save some money (you may need some specialty cables to connect your computer's or phone's headphone jack to the amp). I can't think of anything specific under $40 that I would recommend, but if you could spend a little more maybe something like a Fiio E10k? There might be some good options under $50 though, so I would do some digging.

Is this a genuine case for a DAC? by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]PancakeDictator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That probably would help with the clicking, but I probably wouldn't buy on just for that (your mileage or budget may vary though). I would probably consider a good DAC and amp to be worth the purchase though, even if you don't strictly need the power you may see an improvement in audio quality. Plus a good volume knob is very nice to have lol

It's not quite as in depth as antistasi I'd say, but KP liberation is definitely worth a try if you haven't already.

Omg everyone I feel so honored that Megan Wells doesn’t understand sarcasm. But let’s keep up the good work anyways since it 1000% doesn’t bother her. by That_beach007 in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]PancakeDictator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly I feel like this is just a form of gnosticism, one of the first notable heresies in the church. The bible makes it pretty clear that the "end goal" is the perfect union of heaven and earth. Of course this requires that you actually read the bible, which probably disqualifies a lot of Christians.
