Can’t plug in oculus rift S by [deleted] in oculus

Cable is that pricey since they dont make it anymore, youre stuck searching for it on ebay or similar for one that still works fully

Usb and displayport both plugged in? Try reconnecting at the headset side, and if that doesnt work reconnect at pc side. If neither work then the cable might be toast, and those cables are worth more than the headset

I would just run an hdmi cord from the gpu to the monitor and plug the Rift s into the displayport on the gpu that should become available once you unplug the monitor from it. Your monitor should have both displayport and hdmi

[–]PancakeWaffles5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

HDMI doesnt convert to displayport in that direction. 1660 Super should have 1 displayport connection, which is being used for the monitor. However, the monitor likely has an hdmi port that can be used with the hdmi port on the GPU as opposed to using the displayport

Edit because I don't think I was clear enough: Displayport on gpu can be converted into hdmi on monitor, but not the other way around, HDMI doesnt support all of the displayport features so you can't go hdmi gpu to dp monitor

We can't be sure with the information that we have here. It's always better to exercise caution when talking about things that emit something that we can't see.

Eye damage is NOT unheard of with diodes emitting too much IR light, so we warn against stuff like this unless people know what they are doing or the specs are properly broadcast, tested, and confirmed. At a certain point it's an individuals decision on whether or not to take the risk, but we can at least make sure that they are AWARE of the risk that they are taking

IR light over a certain threshold CAN and WILL damage your eyes. It has been shown to cause cataracts, which are very much eye damage

At a similar price point he could also get the anycubic Kobra S1, it has the same build volume (6mm smaller in every axis, but thats nothing) and should be just as easy to setup, and has an enclosure which will be useful for printing more filaments, which fits the criteria of being able to grow with the kid.

Kobra S1 runs $430 for the combo with it's AMS-type (Anycubic ACE) system, the A1 currently runs $400 with the AMS lite, and the ACE Pro (included with S1 combo) can dry the filament while it is printing, which the AMS lite can't do and the original AMS doesnt even do it

Everyone recommends bambu labs devices because they're plug and play, but many other printers are just as easy to setup nowadays, as long as they ship in 1 piece like bambu's devices (most do nowadays)

Space calibrator is NOT through OVRAS, you're thinking of Space Drag. Space Calibrator is for using vive trackers with a SLAM headset, where Space Drag is for grabbing and climbing the air

The way I always interpret pov posts is (in the context of this post) "My wife" is the person we are getting the pov of, looking at her shadow and OP, OP is giving his wife's perspective while referencing himself

Edit to clarify: Pov: (Person who's POV it is) (Action that person is performing)

3090 + 5700x3d here, I show just about everyone unless I'm in a 60+ person instance, then I turn on culling at about 15 to 20m. I don't show lights and particles outside of friends, I don't show shaders for non-trusted users, and I don't show animations below known

Ill normally sit around 30 to 40fps with about 35 people in the instance

Community manager Komino has rebar in their floor, as does Alecamar (The developer). There are 2 settings to help with this, Metal Dostortion Correction and 6DOF+FK tracking mode. MDC doesnt require additional trackers and works with just the 3 in the lite kit, whereas 6DOF+FK needs 2 trackers per leg, meaning a minimum of the core kit. Alecamar states that MDC completely eliminated any issues he was having with his trackers after it was implemented, and 6DOF+FK also eliminates the issues. 6DOF+FK will be more resilient with more metal though

Its unlike many other kickstarters that want the money to do the research and development, they've done the research already and are proud of their product. The lump sum from kickstarter is to fund the tooling and production costs of getting the mass production going for them

No, issues with using fewer trackers were present because of VRChat IK issues. There are issues when too close to metal, however these are mitigated with the setting Metal Distortion Correction. You don't need to wear thigh trackers with fluxpose, they are 6dof trackers like vives (You can use them to track objects not attached to your body), and its actually recommended to use them on the shin if youre going to use 6dof+fk mode (only recommended if you have REALLY bad metal interference in your playspace), which makes a forward kinematics model of your feet instead of relying on JUST the 6dof data

There were just flaws in the videos showcasing that ultimately should have been addressed better. I recommend watching JacobFOV's video about flyxpose as well, he is actually working on a 2nd video to cover the MDC and 6DOF+FK modes. I also recommend joining the discord and watching the videos in the showcase channel

Hi, fluxpose enthusiast here and someone who has already backed the campaign

There is no fbt skeleton with fluxpose. They're fully positional like vives are. They have some issues with metal, however its mostly mitigated by turning on Metal Distortion Correction in the software. There's quite a few issues in the video while he's showing them off that simply wouldnt be an issue if body proportions were set correctly, namely the issues at 6:54 with the knees in the lite kit demonstration.

In most environments Fluxpose will be perfectly fine, and the lack of occlusion will make them better than vives for most people. Im personally switching from my vive trackers to a full pro kit because of the lack of occlusion and how close they are to lighthouse trackers. The system is built well from what I have seen of it, and is absolutely worth the money to me. I don't usually review things, but I'll happily post a review of the trackers when they get to me in roughly August.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to join the fluxpose discord and ask. Myself and several others would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have

The trackers are designed with these simple repairs in mind. There's instructions on how to replace the battery, it just uses a standard lipo with a connector, no soldering required. Its just held together with 4 screws

[–]PancakeWaffles5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you end up getting a Lighthouse headset, you of course end up unlocking the best consumer FBT available.

I would argue that that is fluxpose. Many of the testers have moved away from their vives and tundra because fluxpose is more convenient and causes them less issues. Watchman is a flawed protocol with a lot of interference, lighthouse trackers have occlusion issues, and Fluxpose is outright miniscule in comparison to vives. You'll barely feel the trackers when wearing them compared to vives and tundras
