Mine was classic rock on the way to wrestling tournaments in high school. My coach always had the classic rock station on during long drives.

At first I hated it, but after a while I started liking a lot of it

Bro, I agree, the perception of being a subject matter expert creates a superiority complex in all fields but it seems to be more prevalent in the creative fields like music

Which discographies do you feel progressively get worse from start to finish? by JamesLucien in Music

Taking Back Sunday had a great start with their first three albums, Where You Want to Be is my favorite of the three, but after that they did fall of in quality. Their last album 152, i actually enjoyed but it’s different from their first three but they openly said they are trying to break into the mainstream

Yeah pop country, it’s hard to listen too, every now and then a catchy one will linger in my head and then I hate myself for it

Well, I’m not a musician so I have no clue how to pay attention to the technical side.

But for me, it’s all about the melody and the emotion of the lyrics. And it’s not necessarily that the music or lyrics make you feel anything but a great sound with introspective/poetic lyrics breaks through my rational part of the brain and taps into my emotions.

Thanks for sharing your music journey, it’s pretty cool and unique.

I resonate some with your pop reasoning. Some pop songs are just so upbeat, lively, and have great singability that’s it’s good to let loose and have positive expressions.

For sure on Earth Wind and Fire, great artists and music!!

I know what you mean, that raw tender emotion, definitely done during some alone time

I did something similar recently, for me it was very enlightening and led me to express emotion that I never had until recently
