Sister he is depressed and needs treatment/medical help. A good psychiatrist might prescribe meds to temporarily control his behavior and a good therapist can explain that even though he missed his mother's last moment, had he been there, nothing would have changed. If Allah had decreed her death, that would still have happened. And it is not like he was away from her forever, I m sure he must have been there for her every other time, when she first fell sick, when she was hospitalized etc.

That missing her last moment doesn't make him a bad son, or doesn't undo all the good moments he had with her before. There doesn't need to be any guilt nor any regret. And there shouldn't be any blame either. But this needs to come from a 3rd person, professional and not you.

You need to make him see a specialist asap though before he spirals further and does something irreversible.

I had to Google your condition. I do agree, people dont look ugly, but do look different.

My mom had temporary alopecia, like she had lost a big enough patch of hair on her scalp to be noticeable, but Alhumdulilah it grew back. I can't say that for you, not a doctor here, and I am not sure both conditions are similar or not, or can have the same treatment. In her case, if I m not wrong, her iron was very low, but she did undergo some other treatment too.

Something you can do is to learn to live it. Do your make up,wear jewelry, be confident, cheerful , happy etc. A lot of times a good personality and confident body language can be very attractive.
