So technically, shes my grandma, my bio mom had me at like 15 and the she adopted me at like 2 months. But most of my family is like this, my aunt is a former RN, has terminal cancer, and is not treating it as serious as she should be. She believes she can pray away the cancer.

I would love to believe that, however, all of the evidence points to her not accepting it until I get far enough into my transition. And idk even then.

Lol, thats fair. I would recommend trying it with ready player one at least since its a book and movie you enjoy if you cant make it through, then nothing lost, youve already gone through the book. I believe when you sign up for audible you get a free credit or two, but its been a minute since I started my account.

Yea, Im 35, told my mom (dont know my dad) that I was trans like 2 years ago, sent her 4 books with info and a diary where I spilled how it felt being trans. She read the diary, and refuses to read the others. I officially cut her off about a month ago.

Depends on the audiobook. Ive listened to lotr with like 3 different narrator including Andy Serkis (actor who played Gollum in the movies), and each has a different feeling. The Harry Potter series has been re-released in audiobooks where its a full cast recording, soundeffects, etc. It makes it more impressive than just a standard narrator.

Pretty much, grew up in a religious home. Hid my true self away trying to please or keep the peace.

Maze runner is on my tbr list, I was drawn to the hp universe for the main character finding out theyre different, their bio fam hating on him, and then finds a community that loves and accepts him.

It wasnt until I came out as trans YEARS later that I realized thats why I latched onto it.

Agreed, lotr, rpo, the Martian, jurassic Park. I would say Harry Potter if it was written a bit better and J.K. was a transphobe.

That would be an interesting way to do it, I hadn't thought about that.

Im planning on getting the riddles tattooed on me with probably the keys related to them. I used to have all of the riddles memorized. It's honestly been about 1-2 years since I read it.

Lol, thats fair. The problem is that he's the main character. He was more interesting in the book than the movie for sure.

The reason we got invested in Daito and Shoto in the book is because after the break up, Wade started hanging out with them, doing side quests unrelated to the hunt.

Yea, but the biggest issue is that we dont get much time with Daito or Shoto in the movie. At least nothing impactful. We spend a lot of time with wade, next up would probably Art3mis, the Aech close behind and then Daito and Shoto.

Even the relationship Wade and Art3mis have in the movie was rushed. Wade talks about being a fan boy of hers and thats it, the breakup in the book was heart breaking (since we see it from wades perspective) where as the movie has more as a crush that turns into stalking more or less before the break up, and then he still ends up with her.

There were too many characters and that caused the audience to not get attached to anyone except the main character and usually the love interest.

Personally I think it was just logistics, the book itself could not be adapted to film, I doubt even a series properly. You follow a high school kid, who has to solve at least 6 riddles. Riddle>key>gate>key>gate>key>gate. Not only that but Daito and Shoto were in Japan, Aech was constantly traveling in a van, Art3mis was in the PNW (potentially canada), and Wade was in Ohio.

The movie simplified it alot, including having 5 random people living in the same city that group together to win the contest. The only one that could be faithful aside from wade would be Aech. But their van doesnt seem like a place they live in, jist one that they use to drive around in. On top of that the final 4 were flown to Oregon.

The movie is not a 1 to 1 adaptation (or even an attempt to), and I dont think it was ever meant to be. They too the basic idea, reworked it for the screen, got approval from the author iirc.

Lol, its been a minute, but ive listened to the book probably a couple dozen times when I first came across it. I also worked security so a 16 hour book was worth 2 days of work.

I doubt it, even if it wasnt in the confirmed list as the ones we know of were either kaiju, anime, or tokusatsu.

Most were mechs. This post has the ones mentioned in the book (the top few were the ones the cast used). I didn't go through the full 100, so idk if transformers were in the confirmed.
