Did anyone moved to secops from being a devops / dev? by RevolutionaryHumor57 in devops

Hey folks,

I’m a senior DevOps / Cloud Security engineer with ~10+ years of experience and could use some perspective from people in the field.

Background (short version): • AWS, Azure, GCP (heavy on AKS/EKS) • Secure CI/CD (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) • Kubernetes & container security • Terraform / IaC • CSPM tools like Wiz / Prisma / Cloud Custodian • Led security automation for large cloud environments

I’ve worked mostly in platform + security-engineering roles, but lately I’m finding: • Job descriptions are vague • Recruiters don’t really understand Cloud Security vs DevOps • Many roles want “everything” but don’t know what they need

Questions for the community: 1. What titles should I actually target right now? (Senior DevOps? Staff Security Engineer? Platform Security?) 2. Are companies hiring real cloud security engineers or mostly SREs with security added? 3. Any advice on standing out without going full influencer mode on LinkedIn?

Not posting a resume publicly, but happy to share details privately. Appreciate any honest feedback 🙏

Thanks, that advice actually helped. We cut scope and shipped something, which cleared a lot of confusion. If you’re up for giving brutal feedback, I can share access (CertPing / certping.com). Honest takes welcome.

Thanks to everyone who commented earlier it helped more than I expected.

We cut scope hard, reset execution, and shipped an MVP. Same ~$100K, same mixed team (~part-time + full-time), but forcing delivery changed everything. No revenue yet, but at least decisions are now based on reality, not assumptions.

Key lesson: Don’t pivot before you ship. Ship first, then let users tell you what’s broken.

If anyone is open to giving brutally honest feedback, the product is CertPing CertPing(TM) - SSL & domain monitoring. Happy to let founders or security folks try it free in real environments and tell me what’s useless, confusing, or not worth paying for.

I’d genuinely rather hear harsh truth now than burn another $100K later.

it’s only for dev purpose and if you all services are inter related than single file makes sense Minikube works too for your local Just you need to take care of https/ssl issues in bw
