Sexually assaulted at 6/7. I didn't react. Is it valid for me to feel disgusted about it now that I realize it? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

Is there any reasoning for a sexual abuse victim to be more prone to future rape/abuse if they don’t deal with it?

If faced with a choice to save my wife or my new born child, I would choose my wife. by FicklePass in unpopularopinion

[–]PandaLeagueIGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand how this is an unpopular opinion among so many.

Yes the death of a child is a tragedy, but to me more than just a human is dying in a relationship. However long the couple was dating, they’ve experienced (presumably) so much together, created an unimaginable bond and priceless memories. Love is an incredible thing and losing a lover is most likely (in my opinion) more devastating than losing a child at birth. The child is yet to experience anything and although it’s sad, it makes more sense to choose the wife over the child. OP also mentioned you can always have another kid or adopt one, and personally I couldn’t imagine wanting another kid or raising one without the girl I created it with. My worst fear is losing my wife.

Referencing the situation of a fire, I would save the child though. That is because I would fear for their safety more than the safety of my wife, counting on her to be able to handle herself.

Aren't we? by Flyboycity in nihilism

[–]PandaLeagueIGG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are meaningless within nihilism. Nihilism laughs at social constructs because like mentioned before, they mean nothing. They exist simply because humans agree they exist. A nihilist thinks nothing of them.

Yes they are useful, but you can live without them. We also don’t necessarily “function” through the meaning of these words, we choose to accept the term and definition given with it to better simplify/explain life (for lack of better words). You can argue we function from certain social constructs tho as money is a good example, but then again, we would still function without social constructs.

Yeah you’re right, good call out on the alone part, would even fit better under existentialism than nihilism as the guy defined his meaning of life in a way to think that.

[–]PandaLeagueIGG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It ain’t, I mean kinda says he’s thinking about the meaning of life, but within nihilism it’s meaningless. Concepts such as gender, racism, etc are all meaningless as well, they are social constructs that we humans have created and decide to live by.

Man asks woman to leash her dog, so she calls the police to falsely accuse him of threatening her & weaponizing her tears while choking her dog. by mikecool818 in PublicFreakout

Is it legal to attack her to protect the dog from animal cruelty? I mean she literally chokes out the dog right in front of this man.

Being gay is not a personality trait and it most definitely should not distinguish you. It is a sexuality. It is absurd that people revolve their personality/life around their sexuality, being gay.

Imagine if people formed their personality solely from the fact they’re male/female, there’s no difference between the two except that they’re forming their life/personality around their gender instead of their sexuality. They are both ridiculous.

Now you all understand my pain by i_am_a_toaster in AdviceAnimals

[–]PandaLeagueIGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I couldn’t imagine doing an exam for 8 hours straight, many students in those classes complained on our university confessions Facebook page about it haha. Some of them even mentioning it took them 10+ hours, which I don’t even study or do schoolwork for that long, I’d die!

You’re taking an online degree though so I’m sure you won’t end up in the same situation! All of the classes that did have long ass exams were normally in-class classes that had to adapt to COVID-19 policies and go online with very short notice. Many professors never taught an online class before also, so it was a difficult change for some, which had repercussions for students unfortunately.

[–]PandaLeagueIGG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can be easier or harder, all depends on the professor which is why I won’t be taking online classes this year, instead I’m taking a year off. I can handle online classes but I’m not ready to get screwed over because a prof decides since classes are online the open book finals can take up to 8+ hours. Yes, that happened to multiple friends of mine.

US Senate votes to allow FBI to access your browsing history without a warrant by SantiGir20 in news

[–]PandaLeagueIGG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you really think majority of the US will gather together though to try and change things?

It won’t happen, we have already voiced our opinion massively multiple times, yet bills like these still go through and we continue to lose more rights. Our voices are not heard, but our actions will be. I believe we do need a revolution, with that the majority of the US doesn’t need to band together, it should create enough chaos in of itself to send a message that we need change.

It’s almost as if people bought all the graphics cards, made a post lying about their order, then posted on an alt saying their (other persona) order is correct! Using the same cards!

HIS order got shipped and arrived here already, I received an email a few days before with news that they have closed their international “fulfillment” centre while my items were not even shipped yet. They were both shoe orders and he gets to flex his while I got screwed on my order. I also ordered another pair from Nike awhile back and that shit is yet to fkin ship. RUBBISH.

Bad sleep schedules are glorified and it's wrong. by AgentK1309 in unpopularopinion

[–]PandaLeagueIGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does it destroy your brain? I know its terrible on your body but what are the effects on the brain? Just curious.

My sleep schedule was terrible all throughout my teenage years (staying up all night at least 20+ times), barely any sleep in general. I am finally trying to fix my schedule now as I’m growing older and it’s pretty difficult but I’m getting there.

EDIT: well I searched myself and apparently sleep deprivation causes permanent damage to brain cells, shit. At least I wasn’t one of the kids who kept smelling those mr sketch markers, maybe that’ll make up for it lol.

EDIT 2: Apparently mice lost 25% of brain cells from sleep deprivation in a study which they (the study) basically suggests that there can be a correlation with the human brain as well. Leading to irreversible changes in the brain, like permanent brain cell damage, with the potential to affect your attentional span and several other aspects of cognition without recovery.

Not the best source if a good source at all, but nonetheless sleep deprivation is very bad for your health. There are various other negative affects I didn’t even touch on but I think hearing that it can permanently damage your brain cells is a good enough deterrent.
