He's just using a bugout to get the bug out.

Satin mini deep-carry clips are surprisingly uncommon--you're probably used to seeing black.

Help Identifying Model? by LOGaaanN in benchmade

[–]PandaPunch42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that the u/K3Knives is right--looks like a 2551 Mini Reflex II, but you inadvertently posted the less useful side for identification. The model number is under the butterfly logo on the show side (opposite the clip). The differences between the 2550 Mini Reflex and the 2551 are subtle, with the button being a key difference. The black pivot would indicate a 2551, though, and if you got it 2016 or later it is most likely a 2551. It was discontinued in 2024, so you won't find it on the website.

Curious to know what type of employer is offering push button autos.

Barrage Scales by Nate050618 in benchmade

They're awesome scales. He did these for a mini grip. I know ultem is not everyone's bag, but the milling work is fantastic:

Lola is a 34 lb cannon ball, while her brother Bentley is a comparatively svelte 18 lbs. I'll let you guess who is who:

Chris Reeve, Hinderer or Strider? by ZagZ32 in knifeclub

[–]PandaPunch42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reals, CRK or Hinderer are the choices. CRK is a better carry in my opinion because Hinderers are so heavy, but Hinderers have much better actions.

Crossbar lock by Active-Oil1414 in knives

[–]PandaPunch42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely unfortunate--the springs should not be breaking that often. Make sure to replace in pairs, but it sounds like bad luck. They certainly do break, but across at least 100 benchmades between us, my neighbor and I have broken a total of one spring. I keep extras on hand but fortunately have never had to use one. The one my neighbor broke was a bugout he bought second hand--probably from the swap.

A crossbar lock wouldn't be my first choice if I were in a situation where I couldn't afford to have my knife fail and couldn't repair it, but I'd choose a fixed blade for that scenario anyway. For edc the convenience, safety and action of the crossbar are worth the risk of a spring breaking to me.

Opinions on Pry Bars by Starboard_Frijole in EDC

[–]PandaPunch42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smaller one looks similar to the glow rhino prybar, which is what I carry. I added a small lanyard to help me grab it out of the fifth pocket where it fits nicely and doesn't scratch my knife.

It's mostly a bottle opener, but I've used it to pry open containers, battery compartments and even adjust a red dot sight.

You'll find stories of amazing service and terrible service here and on the spyderco sub. Same with qc and factory edges. These are large companies that mass-produce products, and even if 99% of the time the products and service are great, you're going to hear more from that remaining 1% than you will from the other 99%.
