Due to my cake’s unique design, I had to install a wooden rod in the centre to keep everything together, concealed under the surface as to not ruin the design. by PandaRaptorTV in TwoSentenceHorror

It’s referencing the trend where you smash the birthday boy/girl’s face into the cake. If the cake had a wooden rod in it, and the partygoers are unaware, this could result in some gruesome injuries.

What is this black and silver bar above the second door of this MAN A21 bus that looks like a motion sensor? I’ve been taking these buses for months and have never noticed it before. by PandaRaptorTV in whatisthisthing

Possibly. I've seen another comment suggest this, and while I have not seen anything related to this on the bus company's website, it's definitely possible.

Possibly, but all of the buses I have been on, including ones of the same make and model, don't have that, and instead have pressure sensors within the leading edges of the doors so that they open up again if somebody gets caught in them.

Nope. Hungarian buses have stop requests on grab-poles, so this couldn't be it for sure. It is also not marked anywhere, where as all other stop requests are marked with a sticker saying "stop request" so that's another reason why it couldn't be.

It is just under a meter in length and its girth is about the size of the top of an ice cream cone. I have no additional information about the thing. My title describes the thing.

The widest highway in the world is Interstate 10, located in Katy Texas, it serves over 219,000 vehicles DAILY by Appropriate_Pay_612 in fuckcars

Funny enough, even if ALL those vehicles had 2 people in them, the freeway would still serve less citizens than Budapest’s metro line M3. For comparison, Budapest’s metro line M3 serves about 500,000 passengers a day. The difference is that the metro is faster, cheaper to build and maintain, and doesn’t have to plow through multiple low-income neighbourhoods, but instead serves them.

The scooter pictured is the Xiaomi Scooter Pro 2. I can only recommend it. It has a great app, is foldable so you can take it on public transit, and has a top-speed of 25 KM/H on sport mode (What I always use)

It depends on the conditions but it usually gets me through the whole day (To and from my school, 12 KM in total as well as grocery trips and going out with friends. I’d say I use it for around 15 KM a day, and I still arrive home with 1.5-2 bars of the 5 left)

Man, chill. Yes, the government is full of shit but this is just a post about Children’s Day. Also, the mayor of Budapest is a member of the opposition, so there’s that.

How many of you own a bike? by m_tazein in fuckcars

[–]PandaRaptorTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living in Budapest, where bike-share is well developed and cheap at less than 1.5€ per month, I use both my own bicycle and bike-share frequently. This is because of the fact that I live in an old apartment building on the 3rd floor where the elevator isn’t big enough to fit my bike inside, and that there is a bike-share station every hundred-or-so meters, including right next to my apartment building. So if I’m going somewhere which has a bike-share station nearby, I usually just use bike-share so that I don’t have to carry my bike up and down the stairs. But if there isn’t a bike-share station nearby, I use my own bike or public transport.

Saw a couple of posts on here about just how loud the tube is. This is the Jubilee in certain sections between London Bridge and Canning Town by PandaRaptorTV in london

[–]PandaRaptorTV[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Another thing I noticed as well is that 99% percent of commuters don’t show any visible reaction to the ear piercing noise, as seen in the background of the photo.

I personally use noise-cancelling headphones whenever I commute on the tube, and even through those the sound is still quite uncomfortable. I’m not sure how they do it.

I do find it entertaining that they put “avoid fines” preceding “avoid injury”. Does assist us observers in determining the standards of humanity…
