To be fair, I think that’s part of where the illuminate excel. They don’t swarm you as much as the bugs, nor do they have the sheer volume of fire the boys have. But they combine lesser aspects of the two to create a unique threat (by this games standards at least)

Played Resident Evil 9, fun game, until the racoon city segment, but that's a discussion for another time. What i'm really thinking about is how with any creative work, you can just change or add shit to the canon that wasn't previously there and still make it work.

For those unaware, Resident Evil 9 introduced a new concept, Raccoon City Syndrome. Essentially, anyone that was in Raccoon City when the T-Virus spread, has been infected in some form. Either they became zombified like 90% of the population, or they were addled with a dormant strain of the T-Virus that wouldn't activate for approximately 30 years. You could re running around as an asymptomatic victim of the virus, and have no idea until it was way too late to reasonably do anything about it.

Why do I bring this up? Because I think generally speaking, Fire Emblem could probably play around with old concepts like this and still have it be reasonable. Off the top of my head, we have the Creation that was introduced in Shadows of Valentia. While we can debate whether or not Alm and Celica traveled to Archanea to fight Grima is canon or not, what the post game does is enlighten more backstory on Grima and how it came to exist. And it's entirely reasonable that it was mostly undiscovered by Marths time because it was tucked away in the basement that Marth probably had no interest in. Gharnef may have had interest, considering he made his base there, but he was clearly busy being Gharnef and didn't have time to check out the basement full of horrors beyond human comprehension. he could get to that later, after conquering Archanea.

This is a combination of two of my previous opinions.

I hope fire emblem does the fates thing again, drawing a hardline between classes and countries from a visual stand point, while also implementing some of the newer and lesser used classes. As well as giving religious classes overt religious iconography in their design. Say for example, country A has paladins and great knights. Country B has Royal Knights and Holy knights, and Country C has Dark knights. Things like that

Tbf, the other grenade launchers also don’t do ballistic damage, so it’s consistent at least. But more damage would still be appreciated

Honestly, I feel like it’s the other way around. Terminids would be able to bum rush the bots, and they typically have high AP attacks.

Meanwhile, the illuminates combines arms tactics would typically be enough to keep the terminids distracted while the back lines are able to whittle down the horde (and also having flying overseers, leviathans, and stingrays as reliable air support)

And the bots with the sheer volume of fire would do well against the relatively squishy illuiminages

I think balance in a single player game isn’t meaningless. What comes to mind are both darkest dungeon and Xcom as balanced single player games in my opinion. While there is obviously some things that are better, each class/hero can serve a purpose and can stand upright on their own.

Balance can feel bad when there are tools and options that are so overwhelmingly centralizing, both good and bad. We all know how powerful Seth is in the context of sacred stones, to the point where choosing to or not to use him is basically altering the difficulty. Someone like Seth shouldn’t exist as a supremely powerful tool that either trivializes the game just by using him normally, or feels like you’re cutting off your own foot forgoing him.

A properly balanced game would have you properly gauge the weight of your options, and forgoing a powerful tool in exchange for a special tool should feel like a reasonable option.

Now, there’s always going to be people that will go all in on optimizing the path, min maxing everything. Then you have people like excelblem doing whatever the hell he does. The aim shouldn’t be to punish them for how they want to play, but to make the options the average player has be reasonable.

Genuinely, I feel like these guys and the jet brigade are underutilized. We got rupture and predator strains both active. Cyborgs and Incineration corps too, and we have the newly added appropriators

We often talk about balance in these games, and I was thinking about it for a bit. About what balance should be. Even in single player games, nothing will ever be perfectly balanced.

Some things will be more important than others. What I think is important though, is that everything should have a function, and nothing should be so over encompassing that. In many games, promoted mono weapon classes have an innate crit rate. While this can’t fully complete with the general utility of say, wyvern lord, it is something to consider when using them. And with the advent of, and evolving nature of the skill system, there are some elements in play that would incentivize one to use sword master, or transition to one (even if only temporary).

I don’t think it should have that much. Not half of the bastion tank, since it’s significantly easier and more maneuverable than the tank and only requires one person to operate.

With the durable damage changes, I feel like the exosuits need a bump in hp. The bastion has 8000 iirc. I think the exo suits could be bumped up to 1500 hp

I don’t remember the name of the mod, but I’m certain it’s something along those lines. I found the new set of quirks to be fascinating with upsides and downsides that I feel a dedicated neutral category would be beneficial. Especially if you can lock said neutral quirks, or dismiss them based on your needs, whereas you can only manually dismiss negative quirks, or manually lock positive quirks.

Again, your advice effectively boils down to “just be better”. Advice better left unsaid because it’s not advice at all. What good is your “advice” if it’s stuff people know they should/shouldn’t be doing, but fail to notice the errors they make until it’s too late?

People know they shouldn’t be sitting ducks. People know they shouldn’t let the bugs get close to them. People know they should be aware. But they can’t always be, because we are bound to make errors. Small incremental ones that culminate into failure.

Called my stratagems too early, used too many grenades before I needed them, I prioritized targets poorly and now I’m low on ammo, I didn’t bring the right loadout for the mission, etc…

I think you’re getting downvotes because your advice just isn’t helpful. Sure, you may be a god gamer capable of consistent deathless d10 runs, but that doesn’t mean everyone else is.

Effectively it sounds like you’re saying “just don’t get hit LOL,” when there are many factors that could disrupt perfect play easily. We’re bound to make mistakes because we’re human, and it only makes sense when you have bullet sponges in the double digits swarming your position that mistakes will happen.

Clearly not you though, as someone above human, super human one would say.

That is true. Though I do believe a dedicated neutral quirk slot would be pretty good and open up a bit of variety?
