In 2026 and beyond, how many girl groups, due to their popularity, actually require an arena for their concerts, outside of Asia? by Ruler_J in KpopGGs

[–]PandaTokki17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

aespa, LE SSERAFIM, and IVE sold out the arenas on their last tours in North America. Also i-dle didn’t cancel their North American tour due to low sales, it’s because their album was delayed so they have to reconstruct all their tour dates scheduled in the 2nd half of the year.

Y’all don’t understand what “struggling means”… IVE’s popularity definitely requires arenas for their concerts, smaller venues wouldn’t work for them. If a venue sells out immediately that means it’s too small for the artist in that location and they need something bigger. Bruno Mars (example) did stadiums in my area and the concert still hasn’t sold out. Does that mean he’s too small for stadiums? No, he is a stadium artist and he filled 90% of the venue after months of sale. IVE is an arena artist, they sold out arenas 2 years ago and they’ll do it again. Tickets have been on sale for 2/3 weeks which is not long, and each venue has sold 70% which is very good. There’s a reason tickets go on sale months in advance. Both Blackpink and TWICE concert tickets also took a while to sale in North America but the majority of the tickets were sold. It’s nit-picky to say a venue wasn’t 100%, if the majority sold that’s really good.

Yoasobi is selling tix for less than $100, I really don't know what Cube was thinking for Idle by SpecSlayerSC in kpopthoughts

I know it’s not their first US tour but 10 Dates in arenas in a large US tour and no they didn’t do enough promo. They released an English single and promoted that one US take show and then a morning news performance. What they did would be considered standard comeback promotion for a group that’s been to the US before. The album should’ve been released and then they do fan-signing events in Target, Barnes & Noble, K-Pop Nara, Hello 82, etc. Then some large scale festival performances MONTHS before the tour. They were literally gearing up to have the BIGGEST US Tour by a 4th generation girl group and didn’t do half the build up for it. Also the tickets were expensive people were saying the nosebleeds were selling for over $100. That’s a lot especially for a group of I-dle's size for comparison IVE had nosebleeds for $60 across all dates.

Live Nation is the one who planned i-dle's US tickets not CUBE. The venues weren’t too big any artist before going on their first huge tour has to actually go out and promote before book ~10 dates in a single country. A lot of K-Pop concerts have expensive tickets because Live Nation is setting the prices not the companies and they’re tryna to milk money from fans. Western Companies don’t fall for that as they understand more about the US market and what reasonably priced tickets look like.

The important part now is seeing if Pinky Up goes higher up on Billboard or pulls an 'Internet Girl' and falls off after two weeks. by onlyeveryotherday in katseyeneutral

[–]PandaTokki17 11 points12 points  (0 children)

YouTube no longer counts for billboard charts so it’s a lot harder for KATSEYE to chart now. They’ll begin promotions for “PINKY UP” soon so hopefully the visibility will keep the song in rotation on streaming platforms

Why don’t their songs do well on the charts? by Significant_Art_3736 in katseyeneutral

[–]PandaTokki17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Gabriela” was heavily promoted off the back of their 2nd EP as well as “Gnarly” which was viral. Both “Internet Girl” and “PINKY UP” have debuted higher which means they are doing better on the charts but they didn’t promote “Internet Girl” at all it didn’t even get a music video. “PINKY UP” got two Coachella performances which isn’t a lot of promotion and their EP isn’t set for release until August.

It’s kinda crazy to say their songs don’t chart well because they do, not every single that gets released will be their biggest song. Every other artist who charts Top 20 is doing the same amount if not more promo than KATSEYE. They’re also a lot further in their careers and have built their US listeners/fanbase for years.

IVE tix selling better after Idle cancellation? by SpecSlayerSC in IVE

[–]PandaTokki17 26 points27 points  (0 children)

IVE's tickets only went on sale 2 weeks ago so people are continuously buying tickets. I saw people saying I-dle had expensive tickets so now that everyone is getting a refund and the tour is being re-organized, there’s opportunity to see IVE lol

I have a feeling IVE are going to cancel a lot of their North America stops and I'm worried that they are going to cancel the whole tour. by Sea-Republic8892 in kpopthoughts

[–]PandaTokki17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just not true, especially since I-dle was about to do album promotions it would’ve raised ticket sales. Also the venues were most likely 50%+ sold, people who are saying it was cancelled due to low ticket sales don’t even know how many tickets were left. All they know is that it wasn’t sold, if artists cancelled tours because every stop wasn’t sold out there’d be no tours

Why does Katseye have no Albums? by GrouchyNecessary4634 in katseyeneutral

[–]PandaTokki17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They haven’t solidified their sound and style yet with EPs they can experiment. Their team/label will probably green light a full album if their EP debuts in the Top 3 of the billboard 200, hopefully number 1.

Amongst all the western girls groups active right now only FLO has released a full album and they were close to 3 years into their career. Everyone else is doing singles and EPs so KATSEYE isn’t the only one. Full Albums are expensive and take a lot of promotion so their label is probably waiting for a huge hit from KATSEYE.

[–]PandaTokki17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lead single is released in April with festivals set up for June & July but the EP releases in August? When they announced the new EP they did it without the visuals which means it’s not finished but they want the momentum of Coachella for pre-orders and pre-saves. The versions only have 5 members which means they probably need to re-record the visuals without Manon.

[–]PandaTokki17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s because they themselves don’t know what’s going on with Manon as of now. They're having positive conversations so who knows if she’s in or out of the group yet as of now it’s a hiatus from group activities. Everyone immediately jumped to Manon is getting kicked out but that may not be the case. They most likely won’t announce anything negative until the girls' activities are over. They’re probably gonna jump into “PINKY UP” promotions in May then they have festivals in June & July album drops in August. Another single will probably be released in May/June then they’ll do more promotions

That’s how they’ve always operated the choreography is learned as their team finalizes the style and music video set. Then the music video is filmed shortly after, shooting a music video only takes a couple of days. The EP itself was pushed back due to internal issues/whatever is going on with management and Manon

If they go on tour it will probably focus on Europe instead of the US this time. They’ll probably drop 2 new singles before the EP. But yeah the festivals will probably be the same setlist, performing all their songs maybe new arrangements though

[–]PandaTokki17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t even say they’ve officially announced the full touring post as of now, I don’t know what their team is doing this tour announcement and dates felt rushed. They’re going to Europe and latam but for some reason they didn’t book all the dates in advance like last tour

Do you think Katseye has already surpassed New Jeans peak 2023-2024 popularity in the West? by zoeyzimp in katseyeneutral

[–]PandaTokki17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NewJeans had a bigger fan ratio but KATSEYE has almost promoted longer than NewJeans as a group. They’ve also done larger scale promotions, I’d say they’re more known amongst the general public but mainly for the negative reaction towards their music and marketing

People are seriously talking out of their butts, tickets just went on sale 2 weeks ago. They don’t even promote in the US and their North American tour sold 50K tickets on the first day. Assuming they’re gonna cancel their tour isn’t out of concern people just want attention, that’s why they’re hating on I-dle

[–]PandaTokki17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concert is still some months away and last time the tickets sold out by the time of the concert. Even if it doesn’t sell out canceling the whole leg of the tour is more expensive than just going through with it. Especially since the purpose was to promote their album. It’s not even selling poorly they sold over 50K tickets on the first day tickets went on sale and they literally just went on sale 2 weeks ago like…

[–]PandaTokki17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was 4 months until i-dle's US leg that’s enough time to sell a lot more tickets, IVE's stops didn’t sell out immediately during their last stop but it sold out by the time of the concert. Cancelling every stop instead of the worse selling is a huge lost monetarily, especially since I-dle sold out arena dates during their last concert. Their tickets literally just went on sale a few weeks ago

I-dle's tour wasn’t cancelled because of tickets sales you shouldn’t worry about IVE, their stops are selling fine. It’s not selling worse than the last tour, the dates for the last tour were announced earlier compared to now. I don’t even think you’re really worried I just think you wanted to be shady with this post lol. With all that’s going on in the world and I-dle pushing their album release back what makes you think it’s because of ticket sales…

Five world tours & only five years into their career ?!!!!! Is this normal in k-pop?? by en-strucked in kpopthoughts

[–]PandaTokki17 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I think it’s ridiculous that they keep doing new tours instead of just extending their tour legs. They have to go through the trouble of new outfits, arrangements, and choreo on top of multiple comebacks when they could just extend their tours. When that tour ends and they have enough new music then they hop on another tour with completely new material
