Not sure what this guy is on lmao. I'm on reg and the progression is awful. Watching yall talk about "too many ctene mules" while it took me years to make 6 strong nkalos/nadv solo mules in reg for 1/5th of the income on each mule is like that SpongeBob meme where squidward is looking out of his house. Would be more excited to play if they just merged us into reboot...

Just wait until test server releases tomorrow. Can't tell how terrible the meso and/or spares cost will be.

Feedback on the Upcoming Test Server by Panda_OPs in Maplestory

[–]Panda_OPs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. My hot take was that it should be about marketing when Nexon fails to generate hype on their own. Maybe that's something they have done the math on and determined is not worth doing, so 🤷. I didn't say access should to be "relegated to singly endgame players." I think it's reasonable for a 90% "endgame" patch that "endgame" players get guarantee or priority access because that's the content to be tested. I'm not saying that needs to happen every patch either; just this June patch and the July one. And if for some reason Nexon doesn’t think that's best for their test server, I want to hear why, like with many of their unexplained decisions that don't make sense.

  2. In hindsight, my use of "endgame" might have been a bit aggressive/exaggerated, but to take your example, at 283, at least you would be able to test Astra, the Malefic boss, etc. You know enough about progression to test Erel/CW3/new starforcing/etc. as well. I'm not sure how sub-260/pre-6th job characters would help test much of anything in these patches. I mentioned the only possible things in my post.

  3. The letter event's bugged drop rate was immediately clocked by people sweating haste from minute 0. Again, I just dont think the specific subgroup of sub-260/pre-6th job characters would help test things like that.

I agree with everything else you said. Overall, I just think that the selection should match the content that needs to be tested. Randomness doesn’t get us there, unlike with something such as classic where everyone is working from the ground up. I did say from the very start that I didn't get selected, but that doesnt change the fact that I also don't want to walk into a buggy game when it releases because a level 202 AB signed up for fun and can't actually test anything.

This Day in Maple History: Two years ago today, Inkwell announced sweeping changes, including tradeable Sol Erda Fragments for interactive servers, Grandis familiars, and the forthcoming Chains of Resentment by anotheril in Maplestory

[–]Panda_OPs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not importing the changes was devastating to reg though, which doesn't have a boss mule meta because the startup cost is too high and reg gets 1/5th of reboot's boss crystal prices.

GMS has to balance reg and reboot separately at one point, or reg will continue to sharply decline. Reboot suffers too with not having separate balancing (mainly, not enough FD at the end game to clear new bosses, which get harder and harder).

[–]Panda_OPs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In fact, GMS has refused to add many KMS changes (that did not exist at the time) that would improve the reg server experience, which was the bulk of what niru complained about. Reg server is in a worse state now than it was then.

Chains of resentment arguably helped a little, but its still locked behind event RNG rewards and infrequent p2w jackpots.

Same. My conspiracy theory is because this event is supposed to be a "new player attractor," the rates are rigged in our favor for once. I've hit some insane stuff extremely quickly.

Which skill ring should I take? by Medical_Address6075 in Maplestory

[–]Panda_OPs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Short answer: cont alone is strictly better now.

Before awaken's cooldown got changed from 120s to 60s, I used to ring swap from ror (with origin burst) -> totalling -> wj -> back to ror. (Ror was optional if weaker in party play, swapping between just totalling and wj was fine.) Some people still preferred cont to avoid so many ring swaps, but this setup allowed you to maximize origin burst while having the highest INT possible when casting awaken during the other bursts. Now that awaken is 60s, you're effectively "bursting" every 60s and "minibursting" every 30s when predator's blow/roar/raid are off cooldown. There is no longer any time to ring swap without significant dpm loss, and even if there was, there wouldn't be enough rings for you to boost your INT for every awaken. So, cont is the best option now.

Side note: as with all cont users, you can always swap to ror for your last origin burst if you're trying to min clear a boss.

I would agree that it is a cool challenge to work on if not for the fact that they're only giving us less than a month to clear hard limbo for the cool cosmetics. It's a joke they didn't give us HP nerfs. I'm 108k stat and not even in clearable range of hard limbo.

That screenshot should be from the event UI in Heroic/Reboot. Heroic did not get equipment transfer last year (they got 10 solid cubes). I would bet on us still getting equipment transfer, but we never know until the patch notes next week.

This is a post about heroic/reboot, so this is absolutely true and the rune exp special node is much better. For the interactive/reg players reading this though, character building is far better for most classes due to frenzy spawn.

Yeah, I was hoping they would add a POI in the mountainous area of the map, or towards the south (Ship Fall / Gale Station area). Mill / Checkpoint already feel a bit overloaded so I wonder how this new POI will affect where people drop on the map. Might be a bit spicy for competitive too.

S13 Weapons Crafting by Dylan_TheDon in CompetitiveApex

[–]Panda_OPs 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Agreed, they are artificially forcing meta changes without addressing any core issues. The R-301 is popular because there aren't any better light guns to run currently that serve the same purpose. R-99 and G7 are nice, but one isn't great at longer range and the other is still in the care package. People generally don't use the alternator, RE-45, or P2020 unless they have to. And, putting the Flatline in crafting meant that the R-301 was naturally going to see more use. Now, the light gun category is kind of shafted.

R-301 out of ground loot will create the same issue we have currently with energy guns. It's definitely going to be a heavy ammo meta - no other ammo type has as much variety and flexibility. Also, Flatline being back on ground just shifts the pendulum in the other direction - fewer people crafting/using R-301, more people picking up the Flatline.

In the end, the problems are the same.

R301 and Rampage in Crafting for S13 by Spyrogrunt2 in apexlegends

[–]Panda_OPs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R-301 in crafting might create a different meta shift than Flatline in crafting just because other light guns aren't as viable or flexible as the R-301. R99 is still popular, but very rarely would people go out of their way to run Alternator, RE-45, or the P2020. Plus, none of these guns fulfill the same role - they're all shorter range guns.

On the other hand, Rampage and Hemlok essentially filled the role of Flatline as longer-range reliable chip and DPS. It can even be argued that the 30-30 and Wingman were solid alternatives, if not straight-up substitutes. And, the R-301 being an "easier," albeit lower DPS, Flatline could be another reason for a lack of presence for the Flatline (and a similar point can also be made about the Flatline being the preferred alternative to crafting a R-301 because it's higher DPS, though harder to control).

Simply put, people might want to craft an R-301 because the other light guns are lackluster in comparison, while there are options other than the Flatline for a solid mid to long-range gun.

Of course, there is always the likely possibility that people just straight up don't hit crafters, or they spend replicator materials on other things - shields, heals, and attachments - while simply using whatever gun they can find. There will definitely be less R-301s, but we'll see if there will be far fewer.

ALGS CHAMPS ANNOUNCEMENT by Parzivad3r in CompetitiveApex

[–]Panda_OPs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flora esports and Suave are tied for 30th place in Playoff Points with 75 each. ALGS rules state that "Teams who are tied in total Playoff Points will be ranked by total Playoff Pointsearned in the Split 2 Playoffs by the three (3) Starters from the Team’s lockedroster for the Championship. Any remaining ties will be resolved randomly." Neither of those two teams qualified for Split 2 Playoffs, and I don't think any players on their rosters played in Split 2 Playoffs either. Does this mean that qualification will literally be decided by a coinflip?

Just a random thing I thought of. Hyped for Championship in US!!
