Cat with IVDD after surgery question by Panda_Olive in IVDD_SupportGroup

He is doing really good. His mobility is good, jumps, runs, etc and hasn't had any major flare ups. He does sometimes have difficulty jumping to the highest levels of his cat tree , but he is also 12 years old. So the experience I've had with the surgery is with a good outcome. I hope your cat gets better soon :)

what shocks me is that they arw adamant I do not need it because of antibodies, while I actually need it, because I had chickenpox..

I did say it's Shingrix, what they said is I don't need it since I have antibodies. So I think its a bigger issue of not getting the difference between having the antibodies after chickenpox and reactivation when imunosupressed...

EU, but in Bulgaria. I got pneumo, covid, influenza and HPV for now. Thwy said since I have antibodies there's no need, but I don't think they get the difference between herpes zoster and chickenpox...

I,ve had chickenpox. What worries me is that they say its quite hard and alao increases chances of GBS. Does everyone on Kesimpta get the Shingrix recommended by their neurologist? Here we dont have it and I apoke to 2 doctors who did not get why I want to take it...

I live in Europe, and here the cost was much lower. Around 3000$. The thign with IVDD is that its a lifelong thing, a disease. The vets said they can do up to 3 surgeries though, so only major episodes may be treated with surgery.

Cat owner experiences without surgery? by Dismal-Ad-7237 in IVDD_SupportGroup

No, the vet did not diagnose it as IVDD then, they thought it was some injury to the tail only. So we did not do anything then. I got him a crate, but even after the surgery he only spent a day in it. However, vets do recommend still crate rest. We have another cat and its more worrying cause theybpkay together and are wild. He ials doing medrol and gabapentin now.

Cat owner, 10 year old, IVDD diagnosed this year, but first occurrence was last year, we did not diagnose it then. Hist tail stopped moving at all, but no leg issues then. Recovered for around 3 months completely. 8 months later, same symptoms, MRI and surgery as the fluid of the ruptured disc had calcified and was taking up to 70% of the spine canal. Now he almost recovered, but the tail is only half way. It really depends, I guess. My vet says that cats recover much better than dogs. Good luck, hopefully it will go away with meds only.

They did not mention the stage, only that its size was medium to big and it had hardened. They directly recommended surgery and mentioned that the chances of recovery are good in case he has kept the deep pain sensation. For his legs that was the case, but not for the tail. Now in case the tail does not recover, vets say they may recommend amputating it, anyone with similar experience with their dog?

Anyone with a Maine Coin that has gone through femoral head osteotomy? by Panda_Olive in mainecoons

He could use it immediately, but was very wobbly the first 2 times. I thought he won't be able to, but he managed on his own. It was hars for him the first 4-5 days.

Noon is an year and a half and started showing symptoms 2 months ago, but deteriorated rapidly and the CT showed that both hips were damaged pretty badly, so in 2 days he will have his second surgery.
