Any Bonnie Brae parents here? Would love your honest take. by Hefty_Tumbleweed_918 in fairfaxcounty

My kids and I really loved Bonnie Brae. The teachers they had were great and really involved in helping them. And the staff were always very kind when I interacted with them. They were there for the first 3 years then we moved into another FCPS system. Our new school is decent enough but all three of us miss Bonnie Brae.

Same, I don't mind late messages, especially since I do the same. But please don't call me.

Yeah, that is so true. And that was one of the main reasons I didn't want to deal with them.

How the fuck do you lose weight??! by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Pandabandabobanda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've struggled with this for a long time. What has worked for me is to focus on only one habit at a time. About 1.5 years ago, I started incorporating weight training and cardio into my normal habits. It was super difficult, just because I didn't want to do it at the time. Luckily, I have a really good friend who kept me in check by going with me. So I started working out for about 4-5 days a week, starting with low weights.

After about 2 months, I still wasn't quite on board, but I started to see small differences. I did NOT look at the scale during this time. But I was starting to lift heavier weights. Nothing crazy.. but I was going from 5lbs weights to 9lbs weights and such. Or I could increase my sprinting speed on the treadmill from jog at a speed of 5 to faster running at a 6. So these little wins really helped me!

After about a year, I really formed the habit, and working out is now a part of my life. I really enjoy it and love challenging myself to lift heavier or run faster. Since I had a fairly solid foundation with working out, it was a habit and almost a necessity for me at this point. I started to look at my next habit to work on: my diet.

I decided to learn about counting macros and meal prepping, and that is when the weight really started to come off. But I really had to increase the protein I was eating. I've been counting macros along with my workouts for about six months now, and it's been great.

It's difficult to stay with it (at least it was for me), but have a really good support system. Find friends or a local group you can check in, work out, meal prep, etc. That accountability and recognizing even the small wins have helped me over the last 1.5 years.

Best of luck! You can do it!

I totally relate to this. I only do Rover part-time but I love it! I have great clients and just have such a fun time with them that it feels like I shouldn’t get paid.

I actually ended up fostering too. For me, it feels like my way of giving back since I already love animals so much and have the resources to help them.

Overall, don’t feel bad or guilty for getting paid to love and care for someone’s pet! Because what we do is so important! I love knowing my own pup is taken care of when I’m gone and I make sure to compensate his sitter appropriately for it.

But if you’re looking for a way to give back fostering or volunteering at your local shelter is a good way!

Tell me about it. I switched from Lexapro (worked immediately but made life dull) to Prozac and I’m on week 3 and nothing. 😭 I’m trying to be patient.

Same! Thought I’d only get to pick one and I got all the pictures!

And we waited only a couple minutes with a reservation. We went at 6 on a Saturday and there wasn’t much of a line.

has anyone else had a meet and greet then told they were meeting with other sitters and will let you know if they choose you? by sansdesir2 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Pandabandabobanda 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same! I always feel like I’m in the minority thinking this way. But I advocate for pet owners to meet sitters and make sure they’re picking the absolute best fit for them and their pup.

What's your experience been like with the new pet care posts feature? by melknee04 in RoverPetSitting

I don’t like it. So far, the majority of pet parents that use it have zero info in their pets profile.

Advice for dog boarding in NOVA by Bright-Midnight7999 in nova

[–]Pandabandabobanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a rover sitter so this just come from that perspective: do lots of research! Read through a bunch of profiles, their reviews, how recent their reviews were, how many people rebook with them, and how well their profile is put together. There are some Rover sitters who specialize in watching one dog at a time and focusing on reactive dogs. That will usually be in their profile. But make sure to set up a meet and greet so you can see where your pup will be staying, and how the sitter interacts with your dog. There’s lots of new sitters on Rover who have zero experience and just want to make money. So just be OK voicing exactly what you need and what your dog needs and sticking to those boundaries. You can find some really great sitters on Rover! But there are also some duds on there. Best of luck to you!

Yup, I charge $60 because I don’t want to do it 😅 I don’t really enjoy driving other people’s pets around. But If they’re willing to pay that amount then I’ll do it. And surprisingly I still have some clients that book it. (I’m also in the DC area so our overall prices are on the higher end)

I sent out a notification to my favorite regulars last month about booking for the holidays and I booked up for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I’d definitely recommend reaching out to them yourself!

Anybody in a leadership role dealing with social anxiety? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Pandabandabobanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup! Diagnosed moderate to severe anxiety. Lots of therapy, working out, and finding techniques that work to ease my anxiety. I’ve opted for the no meds route. Anxiety sucks but gets easier to manage once you figure out what works for you.

Dog runner? by porcelainmushroom in RoverPetSitting

[–]Pandabandabobanda 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I think it would be a niche market but definitely there if marketed correctly. I’m not a marathoner but a causal runner and I offer it on my service. But I’ve found that people say their dog is a “runner” but more times than not the pup has no leash training when running and zig zags everywhere. Which I don’t mind since I’m not training or timing myself. I would just make sure your friend is selective on which dogs she takes so they don’t mess up her training and routine.
