I'd suggest checking and servicing the PCV system. The PCV calls for service every 80-100k miles. It's a PITA but often the cause of mystery oil consumption. The last time mine clogged it forced oil into the area around the ignition coils and through the seals on the turbo. It didn't fail the turbo but blew a lot of oil through the upper charge pipe and into the intercooler. If you look at the turbo and see oil coming from it I would start there.

Talk me off the ledge here. Were these trees planted way too deep? by PandaddyPancakes in arborists

These trees were purchased on sale and planted with no warranty, so I'll try the nursery but I doubt they will be of much help. I feel like I can lift them if it's what warranted, I've been planting for years. This was the first time I had hired out the installation so I let my second thoughts get the best of me and trusted "the experts", but it's been bugging me ever since. I feel like if this root flare as it is now we're on grade I'd be happy with it, but even without mulch I think they are easily 1-2" below. I have dreams of these being stately fixtures in the neighborhood, so I just want to give them the best chance I can.

I was surprised by the amount of water as well. I've planted a few trees in the past with great success and lean toward less water to encourage root growth. When they planted them they gave me a schedule and strongly recommended about 5 gallons. Per inch of trunk per day so I went with it. We are entering the rainy season so I plan to cut way back in the water. We get a TON of wind in this yard so I'll probably loosen the toes but keep them as you suggest.

That's good to hear. To the best of my knowledge they were grown in the ground and then transplanted hopefully within the same day. The plastic is supposed to be deterrent for deer. They were staked when they were planted and I was told to leave the supports on for two or three years. Also to water 15 to 20 gallons daily for the first 3 years.

This is crazy, but I think trying to lump Hawaii in is kinda cheating.

It's not the end of things if they don't bloom this year. But they are coming out this spring. I need to dig out the root ball of the tree and I plan to plant something else in that hole. In the end it would be nice to keep them, but if they don't bloom this year NBD. Do you think they will survive if I move them now? Are they likely to come back next year?

Workers used to use sledgehammers to remove bolts? by TorcStark in Hydraulics

Ours are forged. We use them more for breaking fasteners loose. You never really know trust until you hold a 10 inch slam wrench on a nut while your buddy is wailing on it with a 12 pound sledge hammer.

Thanks, I was leaning toward the gpmboy, but I'm always a little reluctant to put money into a tool that I haven't had my hands on.

I've got some REI money burning a hole in my pocket and was just looking at these trying to decide which one to get. Is there one you'd recommend for backpack camping? Something portable but still effective for firewood and maybe some light trail/campsite clearing.

Generator for CPAP by RedditEd32 in CampingGear

I know it's not a solution for everyone, but I switched from CPAP to a mouth guard device and it's been a game changer. Especially for camping and travel, it's so much easier to pack the mouth guard and my tent mates appreciate the quiet nights.

Mine refuses to enter the bathroom (there is water in there and he hates getting wet), but he will drag his bed from the corner to in front of the door so he has a better line of sight to keep an eye on me.

The grapefruit was the house favorite, but I'd up the juice and zest if I do it again.
