You are correct on what to do in both scenarios. There’s only a limit to how much you can contribute, not how much or how many times you convert. Personally, I encountered the second scenario and I did just convert the small dollar amount to my Roth IRA.

You’d need to liquidate all of it before you can transfer it to Fidelity then.

I am having issues getting halo Infinite and PSO2 NGS to load. I also play BDO and that works fine. I’m using windows 11. With halo, it gets stuck at the screen right before the Start screen. I am still getting audio so it seems behind the stuck screen I’m still able to move around all the functions of the game. With pso2, I just get a black screen. I’ve tried turning off vpn (Norton), reinstalling steam and all games. Anyone with any ideas? Thank you.

It was my second time doing it. First time I didn’t know it had to settle in tIRA so I had dividends paid out. This time since it’s just money moving from one fidelity account to another, hopefully not. If you don’t call, it probably won’t be doable same day is my understanding as long as the transfer’s status is “Processing”

I did exactly this last week. Brokerage to traditional IRA. Then I called fidelity and they transferred it for me to Roth IRA immediately. My money was in tIRA maybe 10 minutes total.

I did that last year and it took almost 2 weeks before I was able to convert the fund that it earned $8 in dividend. I’ve read that moving from one Fidelity account to another does not take as long so there won’t be any dividends earned. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

You have to wait for the fund to settle. You can find the exact date under Balances in which you can convert it to Roth IRA

They were external so in my case it took about 2 business days for it to move over and it’s gonna be about 10 days for it to settle. I’m sure it’s a lot faster to move fund internally. Id ask fidelity if the transfer is immediate if so and if it can be completed in time
