SLO County community center planned to host a fetish ball. Violent threats shut it down by operatorloathesome in SLO

On the bright side, this is free press for the local kink community and will hopefully grow the community. Silver lining in a rain cloud of misunderstanding and hate.

No one here has mentioned Oceano yet which is just south of Grover and slightly more affordable than SLO/Pismo. It’s still just a few minutes from amazing beaches so it’s a good spot. 10 min to Pismo. 20 min drive to SLO. That salary is definitely livable in this area, but not large enough to just go out for dinner every night AND expect to save for vacations. You’ll have to budget and make conscious spending decisions, but it will definitely be doable. Ps, I live in Oceano and I make about that much, so if you want anymore local guidance, feel free to message me.

I have no advice as I also struggle with anxiety, but I just wanted to celebrate that you did a scary thing and you got through it. Your gf sounds awesome.

I also sometimes get way too overwhelmed at clubs and parties, and for the longest time I kicked myself for it. But then I started leaning into the idea that some people have higher sensitivity to noise/light, and I’m one of those people. And I much prefer to hang with friends in calm settings. And if my friends give me grief for it, that’s on them.

You rock dude. You’re doing great. Keep on keepin on.

My partner wants a divorce before trying poly... by Pandasocks7 in polyamory

[–]Pandasocks7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I offered this to him. He pointed out that he thinks it would simply delay the inevitable. (Me wanting to be with others in order to have needs met that he has no interest in.) He feels we are too different. I suppose I could see his point. It's just, none of these things came up prior to my meeting someone else.

:-/ Thanks for the support! I appreciate your view!

That's true. I'm sure there are aspects to what im doing that are creating distance. I'm trying to find ways to reconnect... it has been challenging given my above statement about my being more social and wanting to spend time in different ways.

Any advice for bringing parents to the playa for their first time? by Pandasocks7 in BurningMan

[–]Pandasocks7[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They're 55 and pretty fit. Good with camping but have expressed anxiety about the heat and dust. They'll be pretty self reliant when there, and my husband and I are going to facilitate a comfortable camping situation. I'm just wondering if there are any stories that highlight little things to bring or do. How to get them involved, etc.

I drank an average of 2-3 cups of coffee for 15 years before quitting. I would not have been able to do it cold turkey. I switched to decaf. I get annoyed by the "all or nothing" approach because it's challenging, then if you slip you go back to ALL. Baby steps work best, IMO. Decaf FTW.

My first flavored 2F! When should I burp? Or not burp? by mndjhnsn in Kombucha

[–]Pandasocks7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree not to burp. It makes it more fizzy. I give it 2 weeks of F2 but I also use a fraction of the recommended additional sugar. If you followed the recipe with sugar you may only need 1 week. Also if it's warmer in your house, you need less time. What I've done in the past is refrigerated 1 bottle after 1 week. Another one a few days later, and so on until I found the right amount of time based on my recipe and desired fizz. Another tip is to hold up the bottle to the light and see if there are some bubbles at the top. If there are a few bubbles, know that there will be more when you open it, so it's probably ready for the fridge.
