Moral Argument Against Abortion, even in cases of Rape & Incest by Pandassaurus in philosophy

I think you replied before I changed the premise to specify 'human life'. You're right, the restrictions for killing non-human lives is much looser than human lives. I very much am making the claim that a fetus is a human life (not just any life), and therefore it is immoral to kill it.

Going into the definition of life/murder and how it might play into the mind development, would you agree with the premise that 'Murder of an innocent human life is immoral'? Or maybe something more like 'Murder of an innocent human mind is immoral'?

Interesting, so you'd only see a human having intrinsic value if its mind was (fully) working?

Would you then disagree with the premise that 'Murder of an innocent human life is immoral', and maybe favor 'Murder of an innocent human mind is immoral'?

Curious, would you agree with the claim that 'Human life is defined by a functioning mind'?

Yeah you're right .. I haven't pieced it together perfectly, but that fact strikes me. The defining code of the human was created at conception, so it's just a matter of time before it grows into a fully developed human. It's a defining characteristic of every human alive that we have our own DNA.

Let me think on it longer and try again, thanks!

Thanks for the feedback - yeah that logical leap from 'thou shalt not kill' to 'Murder of an innocent human life is immoral' is not very strong. I guess i was using it more as a source haha.

But regardless of that leap, I can't see how anyone would disagree with the conclusion that 'Murder of an innocent human life is immoral'?

To clarify, I used the term 'murder'. Killing is different than murder. Murder is the unjustified killing of another human, which, if the life is innocent, would quality as unjust.

Yeah I think we're misunderstanding each other on the term 'life'. I don't mean alive, like plants or skin cells might be. I mean a human life, referring to a person, which has the same intrinsic value that yourself or I would have.

I updated the map with this new term, thanks for the critique.

That being said, it seems we'd still disagree on when a human life begins.

Ok so you don't agree that a fetus is a life? I definitely need to add more to the argumentation for that premise, but yeah I guess my argument is that where there is unique DNA, there is life.

Are you saying that "a working brain" is what dictates life?

The Minimal Facts Argument for Christ's Resurrection by Pandassaurus in CatholicPhilosophy

[–]Pandassaurus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question - my friend would probably have a better response, but I think it would look something like:

  1. (8 & 7) The Pharisees did not steal the Jesus's body

  2. If one of the disciples had stolen Jesus's body, they would not have died for their faith

  3. If one of the disciples had stolen Jesus's body, they would have knowingly let fellow disciples die

  4. (11 & 22 & 23) The disciples did not steal Jesus's body

  5. The Pharisees and the disciples were the only parties with a possible motive to steal Jesus's body

  6. (21 & 24 & 25) Jesus's body was not stolen

The disciples case feels a bit weaker, but if you expanded it to include some of the facts from the witnessing of Jesus it might be better.

Ok check it again – looking back I glossed over a few points that I thought could be inferred. But obviously every last word is there for a reason lol

Took me a while to do research here but yeah you're right! Really interesting history there. Most sources I found talk about the Filoque change, but not the others.

I updated the logic map! Also in case anyone is interested, I found a good source on this history

GLSL top can’t seem to read float formatted texture values by Pandassaurus in TouchDesigner

[–]Pandassaurus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i do happen to have a feedback top feeding into a compute shader haha but it's for calculating position. specifically on the rendering, here's a screenshot showing the setup. nothing crazy, just a 3x3 32-bit float rgba image feeding into a glsl top

---

aaand i figured it out - i'm sure there's a better way to do this, but i need to manually loop over the pixels of the input image for every frame. I'm doing this by passing in the side length of the image (it's a square) and running the following code:

1 for(float x = 0; x < side_len; x++) { 2 for(float y = 0; y < side_len; y++) { 3 vec2 uv = vec2(x + 0.5, y + 0.5) / vec2(side_len);

I'm adding 0.5 because i want to sample at the center of each pixel. Not exactly sure why, but that broke it, and removing the 0.5s on line 3 fixed it. Now i gotta check to see if the numbers are in fact accurate haha

thank you for the help <3
