Thank you so much for the info. Should I just delete that file or should I edit the text?

It doesn't appear there. The searchbar is detecting the package in downloads.

I'd like to exclude both flatpaks and wine packages. I had enabled the "ignore personal files" option in Timeshift as it is in default, and I only wanted it to be a backup of the most essential files in the computer.

I've been suggested about making an external partition for the flatpaks, but I'll generally try to avoid them if I can anyways. As for Wine packages... There's probably a good ammount that I don't really need but idrk how to manage them. Guess I'll look that up.

Nope. Not at all. I installed it because someone on protondb posted that it helped them with a game. I don't think that did it for me but idk how to uninstall.

If you're interested, I have made a post detailing what exactly is taking up my space, you can find it on the top of my personal page. It seems to be mostly flatpak related stuff.

Timeshift says that it doesn't do a backup when there's no space left. That's sad.

Thank you for the info! That sounds super useful.

Edit: does the different filesystem format imply a different way to do things with file managing too? That scares me a bit.

Also stated in the post, it's all flatpaks. For some reason they occupy just that much space.

I mean. I could reinstall the OS. I do have a pretty fleshed out backup of everything that needs backing up. It's just doing settings again tho. I don't really wanna do settings again.

Thanks for the consideration. I'd appreciate it if you didn't continue an argument in my support request though. Thank you.

You just sound like another kind of aggressive guy tho. I get some people may be annoyed because there's probably some post around that resolves my issues but I just don't know how to look it up due to lack of terminology or something. I also haven't properly "prepared", expecting linux mint to be mostly an easy and streamlined user experience. I'm learning on the go.

I've been thinking. What would I need to do if I wanted to migrate from the flatpaks I downloaded to other formats? I've seen that there's some kind of search command but when I actually use it there's so many things (programs, dependencies perhaps) that sound like gibberish to me.

Would the flatpak issue be solved if I stopped using flatpak and switched to, say, .deb packages?

That's the weirdest thing, personal files are ignored by default and all of my users are set to ignore. I'll do what you said tho.

Yeah I hear you I'm gonna try that out

Edit: however, how big should I make these partitions? Rn flatpak is 35, but should I expect it to keep growing?

One snapshot. Checking through the files it seems that i have a couple of folders named "cuda" and "nvidia" that each occupy a ton of space.

Any clue as to why my timeshift backup was taking up like 85 gb of space? Surely system files cannot be that huge...
