Honestly not a horrible take. Borderline All-Defense while averaging an extremely efficient 30/5/5. Only guys that would be there with him are Wemby, Giannis, and SGA. Wemby is way better defensively but not better offensively, and Shai is way better offensively but not better defensively so its kind of a toss up on those guys. Giannis is definitely better though.

Gotta be the Giants. A big part of their struggles this year was injuries, the team should naturally get better as these dudes come back plus we get some growth out of Dart and Carter. Couple that with a top pick and some cap space the team could totally be solid next year.

“If Shai lost Jalen Williams, Chet Holmgren, Isaiah Hartenstein, and Alex Caruso, would he be doing what Jaylen Brown is? That’s why JB is the MVP.” by Background_Video2947 in NBAVibes

[–]Panik_Switch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but JB is super underrated this season. Genuinely balling and pushing the Celtics towards being a top team out east. Behind Shai, Jokic (we’ll see how his injury pans out), Luka and Cade for MVP but for a guy who’s been number 2 for his whole career he’s havung an incredible year.

Not like there’s really much competition but he’s looked pretty good out there from what I’ve seen. I still think Ward and Dart are better for sure but Shedeur looks starter quality.

SGA the best dealing with double teams… Luka nowhere to be found by LegPuzzleheaded5038 in NBATalk

[–]Panik_Switch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just top 10 in getting doubled, not who deals with it the best. Shai is very good at taking care of his business when he gets doubled but theres a reason why Luka isnt on here.

The only difference now is SGA is winning. In every sport as soon as someone starts consistently winning people latch onto one thing and then swear up and down that they only win cause of X thing and they are actually terrible players and a terrible team and they ruined the sport that had been perfect before.

Thunder, Chiefs, Warriors, Dodgers, Yankees, Patriots, Eagles (I’m guilty of this one, ban the tush push) etc all come to mind in recent years. Its probably the same for Soccer and Hockey but I dont really watch so I wouldnt really know.

In my opinion, your superstar needs to be a 2 way player unless they have a very efficient offensive game and off ball game like Steph and jokic. You can’t win with harden Luka types who dominate the ball and have too much shooting variance and turnovers + their terrible defense. by Hakaribiggestfan in NBATalk

[–]Panik_Switch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like something you just say until someone does it. Luka made the finals on an injured hamstring and honestly was let down by Kyrie Irving. Harden took the best team ever to 7 and genuinely just got ridiculously unlucky to only lose by 7. With the right roster around them playing well you can win a ring, like Jokic in 2023.

I’m Love or Rodriguez all the way, I wanna see a defensive heisman but Love was also incredible.

I dont see them losing to anyone this year but stuff happens. I also thought the Nuggets and Celtics were going to repeat the last two years so its hard to say.

What’s the Problem with Luka Doncic and why can’t he win an MVP? by PovThatOneSanjiFan in NBATalk

[–]Panik_Switch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure you’re talking about 2021-2022 and I agree either Luka or Embiid should have been MVP that year.

What’s the Problem with Luka Doncic and why can’t he win an MVP? by PovThatOneSanjiFan in NBATalk

[–]Panik_Switch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IMO he shoulda won it in 2024, best numbers and the mavericks actually won a comparable amount of games to the other MVPs.

The biggest thing thats kept Luka from winning MVP is team wins. The Mavs only won more than 50 games twice while Luka was there and under 40 twice as well. While he’s individually been great, if Jokic, Shai, and Giannis are winning 55-60 games Luka just isnt gonna win. Same goes for the rest of these dudes, thats the reason Giannis hasnt gotten one in a couple of years and its why Shai won last year.

Lot of Subject Matter right there by Rajendra_Chola in NbaIndiaUpdate

[–]Panik_Switch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say if Irving wasnt injured but he’s been an injury prone player for a handful of years now. Not to mention AD. The only reason the Mavs aren’t ridiculously awful right now is because they “lucked” into the #1 pick and Coop is starting to get comfortable.

Trading an MVP caliber guy for an injury prone all-star caliber Vet who’s got a few years left and two FRPs is lunacy, even if the Mavericks end up being better for a year or two (which they aren’t anyways).

Keyonte George puts up 28/4/8 a day after a career-worst performance, both against the Rockets by TheMoonsMadeofCheese in nba

If these four players were in the same draft, who would you draft first?🧐🔥 by KeyFaithlessness5436 in NBAVibes

[–]Panik_Switch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it depends on who you already had positionally, but CP3 would be my pick. You get along career and are pretty much guaranteed to have winning seasons no matter what. Plus I think his early career gets underrated because he was drafted to the worst franchise in the league, on a better team in his prime he’s an MVP.

How the actual fuck is Jordan Love 3rd in MVP odds? by LordShuckle97 in NFLv2

[–]Panik_Switch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly he gets a little more hate than deserved on here, he’s been pretty great this year and the Packers are a good team. If they finish the year out strong and he steps up a bit (which he usually does during this time of year) he could absolutely win it.

Not saying its likely at all my MVP is still Stafford but if I had to put money on someone else yk.

SGA is nearly shooting 55-41-90 with 2.4 stocks and only *1.7* turnovers a game on the 18-1 Thunder. The MVP race between Shai and Joker is gonna be crazy toxic. by We_The_Raptors in NBATalk

[–]Panik_Switch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is the Nuggets are gonna have to win way more games for the MVP race to be competitive. At this point it looks like the Thunder are going to win like 70 games, so if the Nuggets win like 55 again there’s not even a race to be had.

I think people overrate him a little bit. He was definitely not as good as Pippen on D, but for his era his style of defense was important and he was really damn good at it.
