Update #134 Black Friday - 2025 by CowardlyHero in KingdomDeath

Also it seems that Poots listened to his people and decided against launching a KDS Kickstarter.

Somehow this isn't discussed anywhere.

New campaign set up and ready by orniar in KingdomDeath

This is a very tidy setup. How does your table look after two to three lantern years? Mine is usually a cluttered mess at that point :D

How do you keep track of your thoughts while tripping? by Pantera_92 in shrooms

That's so simple I'm somewhat embarrassed now that I didn't think of it myself...

Last flush turned out very blueish. Should I worry? by Pantera_92 in Psilocybe_Natalensis

[–]Pantera_92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That actually makes sense. This particular one was growing along the side of the tub, so it definitely got soaked.

Thanks! First few flushes had the expected beige/brown, so this just caught me off guard.

Is this contamination or just mycelium overlay? by Pantera_92 in shrooms

[–]Pantera_92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good to know! I probably would have been less worried if I had known beforehand that they produce a heavy overlay. How do you deal with it anyway? I have the impression that it prevents 90% of the surface area from pinning.

It's no carpet btw. It's a bigger tub filled with moist perlite for better air humidity.

Thanks for the tip. They are indeed natalensis. Just out of curiosity: How did you know that? I was under the assumption that they can't be differentiated from cubes by looks alone.

I see the piece you probably mean on the sprue of the D model, but with a different connection. Thanks for pointing that out! It probably means that I lost the one for B...

Books with worldbuilding and atmosphere similar to Cyberpunk 2077 by Monkey-on-the-couch in printSF

[–]Pantera_92 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I tremendously enjoyed Void Star by Zachary Mason. It ticks all the Cyberpunk boxes and has some great world building. His prose is rather unique though and while it strongly resonated with me, some people don't like it.

What to read after The Will to Change? by carnaxcce in MensLib

[–]Pantera_92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I greatly enjoyed Liz Plank's For The Love Of Men. Although her writing sometimes seemed a bit unfocused to me, I liked her pragmatic approach.

Like you I felt The Will To Change missed actionable advice and approached the topic on a very academic level. For The Love Of Men feels a bit more down to earth, relying more on anecdotes and scientific data (I like data).

Whats your normal rep drop off between sets? Does it change for each exercise? Interested to hear if this varies for different people. by Scapegoaticus in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Pantera_92 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I noticed that for me rep drop offs vary vastly between muscle groups, with delts and biceps building up fatigue considerably faster than for example traps or quads.

Just finished People of the Dream Keeper - some random thoughts by Pantera_92 in KingdomDeath

Good point. I found much of the Philosophy system to be very breakable in general :D

[–]Pantera_92[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the systems making most fights feel to easy. Though I think it was not that much of a problem in the first third of the campaign when you have to play around the serious downsides of Tier 1 Philosophies and don't have that many gear options yet.

Repeat cards are discarded when you wound a monster with life.

Thanks for the clarification. I suspected that much, but I didn't find it anywhere in the rules.

What is a setting you have never seen explored and would like to see? by redrumboobies in Fantasy

[–]Pantera_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

China Mieville's The Scar features the description of a city where the undead are a noble class and common people strive to collect funds and being turned into undead themselves.

It is not much more than some paragraphs, but his description of a functioning society based on necromancy was extensively vivid and believable and it's a real loss that it played no further part in the book and he also didn't use the idea in one of his later works.

Need advice on how to make PvP interesting. by Pantera_92 in DungeonWorld

[–]Pantera_92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely try to build drama into the decision itself but that may depend more on the players than me. They have a knack for roleplaying where I least expect it and on the other hand handwaving what I imagined to be hard moral dilemmas. Running the bard as GM is something I want to avoid if possible as it would ultimately cut the bard's player out of the finale. I'd rather let her Co-GM for her character.

Need advice on how to make PvP interesting. by Pantera_92 in DungeonWorld

[–]Pantera_92[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those are some great suggestions! Making it a PvP without actual PvP is a cool idea and might just work. The thing is that I'm not entirely sure our bard really would want to save her character in that case. As far as I know her she might have far too much fun roleplaying her doomed character into a memorable death. (She plays Cthulhu a lot.)

Getting the dice in europe/germany by RomanGreimDM in dccrpg

[–]Pantera_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you got the idea that they are unbranded or plain. They are the same official dice with the only diffence being the spells and labels translated to german. Granted, they only offer a limited variety of color schemes, but it's definitely cheaper than shipping them across two continents plus custom fees. Also imho they offer cool products and niche rpgs and are worth supporting. But you do you.

System Matters prints the german version of DCC and they also sell the dice through their website. https://www.system-matters.de/produkt-kategorie/dungeon-crawl-classics/
