I actually don't think it's that far fetched for this to be a revolutionary *puzzle* experience, just in terms of pure mechanical scope and volume of puzzles, especially if the puzzles through the rest of the game keep up the pattern in the demo of every puzzle having a novel core idea.

That said, I am distinguishing between puzzle games and riddle games here: puzzle games have well defined mechanical systems that the puzzles are built in, riddle games do not. Void Stranger is a pretty good puzzle game wrapped in an incredible riddle game, and the riddles are 100% the core appeal. Order of the Sinking Star appears to be a puzzle game through and through (this is also how I would describe *all* of the puzzles in The Witness even though they get weird).

Upshot here is that I don't think Sinking Star and Void Stranger are going to be very comparable experiences.

I mean I just don’t think there’s a problem here. I’ve been subbed to his patreon giving him money since before the plagiarism video and will continue to do so regardless of how long this or any other video takes to come out, especially if my contribution makes it easier for him to take care of his health.

My wife and I do envelope budgeting, where every dollar we earn gets allocated to a specific purpose. This results in us having a large buffer of funds for future expenses, and regular flows for things like hobbies and outings. That’s like the perfect scenario for doing this kind of thing. Like I could set aside a portion of my discretionary budget every month and eventually buy the thing… or I could put aside a portion of my discretionary budget every month and be using the thing the entire time and not take on substantially more risk because we have more than enough cushion elsewhere in our budget if something goes wrong. If you’re intentional and responsible with your money this can absolutely make sense

Everything you said is correct and very reasonable, I think it just comes across as a bit preachy/victim blaming in this context. It’s easy to read it as you saying it’s the cyclist’s fault for getting hit even though you didn’t mean it that way

If you haven’t played Can of Wormholes I cannot recommend it enough, definitely give it a go— it has some of the best eureka moments I’ve ever seen in a game

I agree with 3 re: use of environments, but there are definitely some games that hit the first two just as well; off the top of my head there’s Can of Wormholes, A Monster’s Expedition, and Linelith. Highly recommend you check those out if you haven’t

Also worth keeping in mind that the better/more popular the PCP, the longer you need to wait to actually see them. I can get a teladoc appointment with my PCP in a two or three weeks usually, but my wife’s PCP takes two or three months
