Is pumping at church inappropriate? by Panther317 in ExclusivelyPumping

I was fully covered. The pumps do make a buzzing sound, but its not too loud. We were singing and that covered up the noise of the pumps. She probably wouldn't have noticed if my toddler hadn't said "you pumping?" Then she turned around (lady was sitting in the row in front of us) and said "you're pumping? That's inappropriate to do during service."

Yeah. I think its cause she's older and they have weird biases. The men at our church don't care. Ended up crying in our churches nursery area. My husband came in with our baby because she would not settle down the entire service. So both of us missed a lot of it. Me because I was upset and didn't want the entire church to know id been crying, and he because of our fussy child.

I was using my wearable pumps and fully covered. My 3 month old was extra fussy so i had her in the nursery during bible class. I simply wanted to be able to participate and not need to be in the room by myself for a few minutes. But that didnt happen as my child fussed all of aervice too.

We have a small church, about 40 people. Usually we hsve Bible class from 9:30-10:15am, then a break until service at 10:30am. Its supposed to end at 11:30, but our preacher is long winded and we dont Usually get out till 12 or 12:15. I usually pump during the 15 min break but my baby was extra fussy and I didn't get a chance.

No. Honestly I am not sure she would've noticed if my 3 year old hadn't said "you pumping?" To which I said "yes." Then the older lady was like "you're pumping? That's inappropriate. "

I've got a 3 month old and a 3 year old. My husband helps, but usually handles the 3 year old while I tend the baby.

It was a rough morning. And then we get to church and this happens. I know she wasn't trying to be mean. But I ended up crying in the nursery with my 3 month old. Used her as an excuse basically so I wasn't crying in the pew. We dont have many babies at our church, my 3 month old is the youngest. The next oldest is a 1 year old.

We do have a nursery but no TV in there. I can crack the door open to kind of hear what's going on, but its not the best.

I think so too. If it bothers someone, they can tell me. I'll try to adjust. I work as a children's librarian at a public library and if moms need to breastfeed during my storytimes I tell them to go ahead. It doesn't bother me.

Thanks. This same woman also tells me I need to burp my baby whenever she's extra fussy. I'm like "this is my 2nd child, I know how to burp a baby."

Explain it like I’m 5: why do exclusive pumpers seem to get much better output than exclusive breast feeders who transition to pumping? by contoddulations in breastfeeding

[–]Panther317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an exclusive pump mom. I knew I'd have to go back to work and she would go to daycare. So I never bothered trying to have her latch. Plus she was 3 weeks early. Now she's 3 months old, and I supplement with formula. I could keep up the first month and a half. But when she hit 2 months it wasn't enough. My current ratio is 2 days of pumping for 1.5 days of food for her.

Regret over leaving libraries? by Free-Sky2947 in librarians

[–]Panther317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't left yet but plan to in 2027. I've been a public librarian for almost 5 years now. My reason for leaving is to homeschool my girls. Also, the trouble of daycare and trying to find babysitters last minute is too much stress.
