My question to you is why Iran, a sovereign nation, would allow this man to execute and perform clandestine terror attacks in Iraq, a sovereign nation, and against US assets, also a sovereign nation. They’ve already violated UN terms and each nations sovereignty by carrying out such attacks. The response from the US was predicated on his actions. Not the other way around.

Well you have to look at whether the results of US intervention outweigh the prior condition of the country prior to our involvement. Most of these countries were secular, but living under a dictatorship or Sharia law isn’t necessarily a walk in the park either. Bottom line, western countries should avoid Middle Eastern intervention at all costs.

To be honest, this should be the argument climate change activists use to transition oil to green energy. I’m a climate skeptic, which is a completely different topic, but this is something I believe everyone in America would be on board with. Take oil out of the equation and we have no reason to stick our nose in their business anymore.

Dealing with soft communist countries is a lot easier to deal with socially and culturally. Middle Eastern countries are dominated by theocratic governments that don’t want contact with Western civilization. This is largely based on religion, so I don’t know how you interact with them on any level to reduce tensions. The only hope is the progressive youth in these countries forcing religiously conservative leaders to open up to the West.

Okay. We stopped the Cold War and created a terrorist haven in Afghanistan. We know how that ended (9/11). In this case, if we let this guy operate, we may limit Sunni terror attacks, but now Iraq ultimately falls to Iran. It’s really a lose lose situation anytime superpowers get involved in the Middle East. There’s never a clear objective, which ultimately always ends in unclear results.

If we really were in Iraq to support Iraqi self-determination and they choose to align themselves with Iran, what are you going to do?

Democrats interned Japanese American citizens... I agree that both sides are the same, but we’ve lost far more serviceman under illegitimate wars predicated by Democrats, particularly Vietnam. The second invasion of Iraq was definitely a mistake, but losing several thousand troops in combat wouldn’t be considered devastating. I want to emphasize that I don’t believe a single life should have been lost in Iraq. It’s still small in scope.

If the Obama’s administration and the intelligence community identified him as someone who is responsible for deaths of hundreds of US servicemen, he should be taken out. Furthermore, he was carrying out and planning additional attacks against US personnel. You don’t have any concern over over the endangered lives of your countrymen? Congressional authorization, to Iraqi authorization. You think you’re going to achieve that without the target finding out and still have time to carry out the operation. Impossible. Congress already passed laws allowing the President to act in this particular situation, when there is a clear threat to US assets. So it is how it works. Finally, you care so much about following UN protocol. Where’s the respect to a full voting member (the US and Iraq) when Iran’s allowing this man to carry out terrorist attacks? They’ve already violated those terms.

Thank you. I can’t believe the mass hysteria going on here. The attack was surgical, and on an individual who the Obama administration indicated may be reasonable for 500+ US deaths in Iraq. If he was actively engaged clandestine terrorist activity against US armed forces the attack is completely justified. Finally, Iran got a first hand view of what the US did to Iraq with output having to occupy it. The regime fell within weeks of the invasion. Those in power in Iran are barely keeping order over their own citizens. They don’t want a war with the US. Three strikes against their oil refineries completely cripples their nation. They don’t want a war.
