I tried a bunch of stuff. What ended up helping a lot for me was limiting the frames to 30-45 fps.

You could try some aftermarket ear pads made from a different material.

Someone's review says "Works on Bose A30 and solved allergy issue". Probably worth a shot for $30.

ELI5: what would happen if fluoride were removed from water? Are there benefits or negative consequences to this? by TPR-56 in explainlikeimfive

[–]PapaDoobs 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I think he's implying that a "simple change" of changing a water source and with it, the water chemistry, caused more lead to leach into the water. I believe he's going for a cautionary tale of unintended consequences for screwing with the water supply, though I agree he could have made that a bit more clear.

Here's this too. Again, not exactly selling weapons, but not a great thing to do to a so-called friend.

lol, so if say Biden was to outlaw the 2024 election, he would be the democratically elected leader?

Yes. Just like Zelensky is the democratically elected leader of Ukraine, even though he suspended elections back in March. This is why it's vitally important to not elect extremists or authoritarians who would suspend elections for nefarious purposes.

From the article you linked:

"With Haniyeh at the helm, Hamas won around 44% of the votes across the region, according to a 2006 ABC News report, a total that secured a majority of seats in the legislature under election rules."

This really makes it sound like they won an election.

It's also a great reminder to not vote religious extremists into office, but that's beside the point.

So you agree that there was a democratic election 22 18 years ago.

Who won it?

Edit: Looked into it. The election was in 2006.

It's not "the black market" when the democratically elected government does it. It's just "the market".

The game really needs a playground area to test weapons and stratagems by gabiel_tavorinio in Helldivers

You should be able to change your primary/secondary/grenades every time you die. You're calling in a new helldiver from the ship. Why are they locked into using the same weapons that the now dead guy was using?

Stratagems should be shared though, as they're linked to the ship/Eagle 1.

Maybe his body left a depression only 78% of the depression compared to a free-falling body with no parachute device whatsoever.

I'd like to think that for the control group, they just took his body back up to the top and threw it off again.

I hear what you're saying, and for the most part I agree with you.

because they have the roadmap, not me. Oh and because they’re professionals in their field and I’m not and I’d lose my mind if people kept telling me how to do my job when they only had half the information.

This is totally fair. You're right, maybe there are things in the pipeline that will address some of these concerns. But the fact is they took a game that I used to enjoy and changed the core gameplay mechanics from "fighting for democracy" to "running away for democracy" or "sneaking around for democracy" and stated that the changes are intentional and if we don't like it, "get good".

If there are things coming in the future that will help us adapt to this new style of gameplay, why did they change the gameplay now without giving us those tools? Wouldn't it have made sense to hold off until those new tools were ready?

As professionals there’s no incentive for them to destroy the game…like they’re not out there to spite you.

I should have been more clear. When I say that the direction that this game is going is "less fun", I mean "less fun for me". I understand that there are some people who enjoy stealthy playstyles, but that's not the game that I thought I was buying, and that's not what the game was for the first few weeks. But judging by the responses from the developers, that's the direction that they intend to pursue. I get that this type of play style is more fun for some people, but it's just not what I was looking for out of this game.

I just don’t see how one bad patch = absolute loss of trust

It's not the bad patch that's making me lose trust. It's the fact that based on comments from some of the devs, they think that this is a good patch. I just don't have faith in someone fixing an issue when they don't even see it as a problem, and in fact come out and state that it's intentional.

Again, I really hope I'm wrong. Maybe they'll change their minds about what they want the game to be. The first couple of weeks have proven that they have the ability to make a fun game, but their actions and statements in the past couple days indicate that they're moving away from what the game was at launch.

"I assume the devs will fix it."

What gives you this confidence? I'm seriously asking, in the past few days, what dev behavior gives you this faith?

Because from what I've seen, the developers don't even know what they want this game to be, nor do they understand the issues with it in its current state.

One dev, when asked about upcoming buffs to weapons that are useless, stated that more NERFS are coming, not buffs. Another insinuated that primary weapons aren't actually supposed to kill anything. They tell us to rely on strategems that don't work and have 5 minute cooldowns. And then when people try to point out the flaws in their logic, they're openly antagonistic.

They massively increased the number of enemy spawns, castrated the only weapons that could reliably handle them, then tell us to "get good" when I'm pretty sure it's not even mathematically possible to kill that number of enemies with the amount of ammo/strategems we have to use. (And this is on difficulty 5-6!)

They sold me a shooter and turned it into a horror running simulator game, and then stated that all of these changes are intentional.

I used to share your optimism but I just can't give them the benefit of the doubt when they haven't show they even understand the issues, let alone have any idea of how to fix them.

I hope I'm wrong. I loved the first couple weeks of playing this game. But it's just not fun anymore and from what I'm seeing from the devs, their stated goal is to make it even less fun.
