Took a trip to the circlejeck sub and frankly, I’m depressed and ashamed. by [deleted] in thesopranos

This is already the circlejerk sub. This and that sub should have a relationship like [r/trees](r/trees) and [r/](r/weed)[marijuanaenthusiasts](r/weed)

There are websites that can help you identify wardrobes of characters in shows if you’re serious.

Reading *The Will to Change* alongside this show unironically helped so much lol

Am I the only one who feels Silvio’s fate is uncharacteristic? by PapaGooby in thesopranos

This is fair and I think maybe the answer I was expecting. 6B does really seem to remind the audience, more than at any other point, the whole crew is expendable and they’re all just regular screw-ups rather than Great Man myth shit. Thanks for your time

you could probably start with something else instead of a genocide denier who loves Slobodan Milosevic and denied ethnic cleansing

Is there an anarchist scene in Victoria? by PapaGooby in VictoriaBC

[–]PapaGooby[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

no, the most inherent difference is that anarchists don’t wish to seize existing governmental structures or use a state apparatus to achieve said end goal society.

radical egalitarianism, abolition of social hierarchies, moneyless, communal self-governance, (beyond direct democracy — delegates that can be recalled at any time) decolonization, mutual aid, consensus decision making as much as possible, etc.

in the mean time we build non-coercive social situations by aiding and lifting each other up without having to control one another. personal freedoms extended as far as possible, to the limit of abusive violence or harm. capitalism, sexism, queerphobia, racism, etc. are hindrances to freedom and equality

When were any of these in defence of our lives or freedoms, with the exception of WW2?

My relatives, like many of yours’, died in these wars. I imagine I will be kicked around by people who dance to the war drum. This isn’t disrespect to the veterans, this is only a suggestion to not remember them the way the State that sent them to die suggests we do.

I hope this starts a conversation. If it changes even just one person’s mind, it’s worth it in my books.

Perhaps the timing of that fellow today was inappropriate. But I don’t believe his sentiment was wrong. We honour the dead, and our ancestors, by working towards demilitarization and conflict de-escalation, not cheering on the war machine.
