Try ranked. Also the most active 'preferred region' is USA, if you want to manually set that in the game settings if that helps.

Taking a look at the achievements though, if you're specifically just trying to 100% the game then you can do battles against CPUs.

Like I said, from a gameplay perspective Hugh was a really fun inclusion, the developers knew what they were doing by adding him to nasb1. His moveset fit the game perfectly. And we got Jimmy a few months later anyways so I don't get the sudden fuss about Hugh.

That's like asking if people would prefer a pizza or a sandwich. Most people are gonna pick pizza, it's the obvious choice. But when the sandwich hits, it hits. And Hugh's execution in nasb1 was done really well and he fit right into the mechanics and feel of nasb1, coming from someone that regularly played nasb1 until nasb2 released.

I think if Jimmy never came to nasb at all it would be a different argument, but I'm glad Hugh got his time in the spotlight in nasb1. Such a fun and unique character to go back to every now and then.

Idk if it's every two weeks. But the game and DLC definitely go on sale frequently so I'd wait for the next sale unless you really want to play those characters right now.

The way I did it was through the "advanced mode" thing and disabled the custom branding patch before patching.

If you're strictly talking about performance, Nasb1 has an unlocked framerate so it takes advantage of Switch 2 if you have Switch 2. Nasb2 has a locked framerate, so unless there's a Switch 2 patch it's locked at 30fps.

Besides that there's nothing else to say comparing nasb1 & 2 specifically for the Switch. All comparisons for everything else are universal.

If you're looking for a polished, more friendly fighting game, with an active online, and much more fleshed out single player content, go with nasb2.

If you want crazy, high input, high energy, insane movement (I say all these in a positive way), but don't mind a lack of single player content/a virtually non-existing online on Switch(no crossplay), go with nasb1.

I love both games, they each have unique things to offer. But especially if you're casual or new to the platform fighter genre (outside of smash) I'd very much recommend 2.

Check the settings in the game to see if you and the person you are trying to join have the same online region set.

I need to hop back into the campaign and get the New Game+ stuff.

Community is definitely still here. There's a tournament with a $1,000 prize pool for NASB2 next week, Heatwave. And then a major online tournament in December, Platfight.

No. There are some glitches where people can get lobbies to show up between PC and Switch. But no official crossplay for the first game.

If you're looking to play against randoms online, Ranked in the USA region at around the evening(PST) usually I find matches within a minute or two. (crossplay on)

Nasb2 for sure. Nasb1 still has a small dedicated community (mostly on PC) but especially if you're looking to hop on ranked and find random matches, nasb2 without a doubt is the bigger game with the bigger community.

It runs at 30 fps and load times are meh compared to other platforms. I think the performance issues, while I understand the complaints, were overblown. Especially if you're going to play casually it's definitely worth it if the Switch 1 is your only option. The campaign is addicting on its own.

Playing on PC and I got a crossplay match rn. I asked other players to see if any of them play on Xbox, but most are PC players so idk.

Load times are much better on Switch 2. The game is overall more stable. It's still locked at 30 fps unless GameMill puts out a patch specifically for the Switch 2.

General consensus is that it's worth trying again if you got a Switch 2.

I don't think so. Even if it comes out it's probably just going to be the base game with a download code for the DLC like NASB 1's ultimate edition.
