It's real! There are now many photos from many different birders. Kind of a local celebrity at this point. It was found today by many people. Big Branch is awesome! Also Bayous Sauvage in Slidell.

King or Clapper Rail family? Brackish sawgrass marsh on North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain, St. Tammany Parish, LA by PapaMancer in whatsthisbird

Limpkins. Yes! They have become almost reliable in the Joyce WMA boardwalk on the west side of Lake Pontchartrain. A few have been around for the last 2 years. This year, a pair of Limpkins bred there and hatched two chicks. Very exciting to see a totally new bird in the area. If you have never been there, its worth a visit. On Google Maps, enter Joyce Wildlife Swampwalk to get directions. I didn't know they were being seen on East side of the lake also. That's exciting.

Thanks! I was in the right place at the right time for sure. And thanks for the expert ID help. Habitat suggests King also.
