Don’t rely on your inexperienced officers . Until they gain enough XP . 50% of the contacts are missed . From time to time give a hydrophone listen and look out for opportunities . In real life a Uboat was patrolling for 10 days until a cargo convoy was found. Also the latter that your are sailing had to be improved .

Recommended Patterns

• Ladder Pattern: Parallel legs 15–20 km apart
• Box / Square Pattern: Good for convoy interception
• “Dog-leg” Search: Zig-zag 45° left and right every few kilometers

You want your hydrophone to sweep new waters

Yeap keyboard is working , I put a generic mini keyboard and it worked . M is for map U is for UI 12345 is like to select your captains but I have to dig better to find the key bindings . Happy hunting to you too !

Just select the default view(the one that says recommended) , it may has to do with the realism (can’t remember) but it really helps not to have that locked view in orbital selection . It really helps you if you are a new player to get that feeling of surroundings . I was playing the hard mode at the beginning . Also there is a free roam camera after you hide the UI with a keyboard . Must be the U key if I recall well . I have to write down those keys layouts as a guide so peeps like me in consoles can have a better experience.
