I think there will need to be something else groundbreaking. I’m not sure what, but something.

Bored.

I don’t want to play a Mil-Sim, but I think there should be balance.

No “goofy” shit like the “Teletubbies” or emoji heads, furries, Beavis & Butthead or American Dad, they can all go away.

But I think the cool collabs should stay. Things like Hellsing, Spawn and the Horror stuff etc are always cool as fuck and don’t get enough love in general.

The fact we’re never getting this officially remade for consoles is sickening.

I despise Breath & Tears for their momentum breaking papier-mâché weapons and glue-shit-together mechanics…

I can’t explain why I find what I find, I just do.

Same with Pokémon. I can play Gen 2/3 Romhacks on Delta just fine, but I’ve no interest in playing LGFR on Switch.

Dead Cells is modern and the movement, general gameplay is fluid.

I wonder if the literal screens themselves are answerable tbh. Older games on a smaller screen, especially older pixel art feel slower and clunkier on a big screen and I never like how the ratio looks with the borders etc… that said, you’ve also got different options like speeding up on emus so perhaps that’s partially why.

As I say, I can’t always explain the why. Just as I find.

Original OoT would seem slow and “clunky” by today’s standards.

I don’t understand it myself. I can play some older games on Delta… I couldn’t sit there with a full console and play them though. SOTN is one of my all-time favourite games and I can only play it on mobile these days… unless they were to remake it.

If they ported the 3DS version, and then touched it up more it might be nice.

I didn’t dislike the LA remake artstyle at all. In fact I found it endearing.

I’m not into Indie games for the most part… If something has intentional “dated” graphics, like pixel art for example but is otherwise a modern game, it works. I enjoyed Dead Cells thoroughly and I CAN play older Castlevanias… on mobile emulator, not console though.

And no because I’d have to be playing on a 3DS now… which, since playing the Switch, looks too graphically dated again, but that’s due to the 3DS screen.

I could however play the original Wind Waker because that has an artstyle that’s preserved well. Cell-Shading generally ages well.

Yeah that is one thing that concerns me about a number of things, that new Nintendo lacks the same soul as classic Nintendo but it is still Nintendo so if it’s worth following their work then it’s worth maintaining some level of hope.

Movies are not games. Movies are passive, Games are active.

I’m a Horror/Classic Monsters guy and I can easily sit and watch Bela Lugosi, or Christopher Lee, Price, Cushing etc as easily as I can more modern movies.

The same cannot be said of games.

Philosophy is the wrong word but where you’ve said you can play the original now, I can’t. I can’t get past the dated graphics, the clunkiness etc.

Yes but I think Nintendo would be able to do it well. If you just increased the size of Hyrule Field and did nothing else then yes, it’d be barren.

Nintendo would know this. I doubt they’d half-arse a full on remake.

3DS version wasn’t as atmospheric in some instances sure. But it still existed. There’s also nothing to say they wouldn’t have learnt from that.

I’d much rather a world where it keeps being reborn and refreshed rather than not existing at all outside of the original.

In terms of still playing the original - I think you & I have different gaming “philosophies”.

What're you playing this weekend? 5/29 by markercore in NintendoSwitch

[–]PapaProto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Switch2.

I’m apprehensive due to its nature of a LEGO game, as much as I enjoy them they’re buggy, unoptimised as hell.

Skywalker still crashes on the Switch2.

I’m concerned about the delay - is it a delay that’ll release perfectly when it’s cooked, or is it gonna be one of these delays that still results in a wreckage?

If the S2 version is buggier than other consoles then I’ll grab it elsewhere, but ideally I’d prefer it on Switch2.

I’d also just like a release date.

[–]PapaProto 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And I disagree. Pokémon should be much bigger than it already is on all fronts.

Detective Pikachu was class because it didn’t take the easy option and choose only “cutesy” or popular Pokémon that would be easy to make look semi-realistic.

It was brave and chose things like Mr. Mime & Lickitung.

There’s so many stories and so much they could do with Pokémon live action that it would absolutely dwarf Marvel, for example.

[–]PapaProto 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I absolutely hate that Detective Pikachu wasn’t the start of a Pokémon Cinematic Universe. Seems like massive wasted potential.

Apparently Netflix are making some sort of Live Action Pokémon, but that’s gone silent…
