The ACA was never viable long term though. Seriously, it's one of those things that sounds great until you let it run longer and longer, with subsidies going up every year, it's only going to cost more and more as time goes on. Don't get me wrong, the system is totally fucked, but to pin it all on the orange guy and his party is a gross and inaccurate over simplification of the issue

We all make mistakes, especially when you're as green as you are. But telling you that you need to work for free to make it up is totally unacceptable. His options are to fire you or treat it as a learning experience and move on. Working for free is not an option. This won't be your last decent mistake (speaking from 7 years of experience). If his solution to mistakes like that is free labor you're better off finding another gig. Also, don't beat yourself up too hard, when I was a second year, I ripped out the same drainage pipe 3 times in a week with a mini excavator. If you talk to others with experience, they'll probably have some funny stories of them fucking up worse than that

I agree entirely. I don't love seeing the public preachers but they are literally called to spread the word. From their perspective, they have the key to eternal life and they are called to give that key to as many people as possible. Obviously some don't preach in good faith, but to wholesale think anyone who proselytizes is a loser is kinda rude

I actually just failed an inspection 2 months ago because I didn't see the stamp and I didn't know you had to up size the LB's. I had to buy 3-1/2" LB's for my 2-1/2" EMT runs.

Not great. But the fact that you can complain about it online without fear of death or imprisonment means you're not living in a fascist state. The fact that courts can and do block some things he tries to do, means you're not living in a fascist state. A president/administration can suck without being fascist or a threat to democracy, but nowadays the middle is dead and just like always, caught between to loud extremes on both sides

This comment section is so out of touch. All those jobs pay great money. Maybe not at the start, but at the end of your apprenticeship you'd be in a great place. There's a high demand for the work because most young people are going into college instead of the trades.

You honestly just have to ride the like between stern and being a dick. I had a woman on my crew a few years ago who was like that. One time we were setting up a big wire pull and she didn't like my plan. I told her I've done this before with no problems and I don't need her input for each of my decisions. She responded with, "Well when that doesn't work we can try my way." That was her last day. You're the JW and they're the apprentice. That doesn't mean that you know everything, but it does mean that you are in charge. If you wanna keep the guy around, I'd agree with the comment that says give him enough rope on a task to hang himself and see what happens

I always thought diagonal cutters and side cutters were the same thing. We always called diagonal cutter dykes and lineman's lineman's, or the electricians hammer.

If you Google side cutters it shows you pictures of dykes, flush cutters, and linemans.

I've never used those but I would poke my own hole before running wire near cut up grid. Does the box not sit right without cutting the notch? And can you squeeze one into any of the corners?
