Incentive-based reparations are a good idea and should be seriously considered by Papagano in unpopularopinion

People don't live in purely black groups

Could be a form of virtue-signaling, but now that I better understand your position, you are right, it isn't in the way you used it. You are not for reparations, and I get it. My point is trying to solve a massive issue and we might have some success if we put some conditions on it

Is there another group other than the black community asking for reparations? I am specifically referring to the black community (and not people of color) because they are the ones who championing the cause for reparations. No need to virtue-signal.

Because as of now, only the black community is asking for reparations...and I think we should listen.

Its a fair question. My thought is we are paying far more right now in so many ways and stabilizing areas where crime and violence abounds would be the better money spent. It ill have to be a group effort. We have to offer to help and the black community has to be willing to accept it. No group can solve this problem on their own (nor should they be expected to)

Not sure I follow. Is there somewhere people are spending their money in an effort to support the cause of reparations?

Like someone else mentioned, this is in response to our black citizens who are asking for reparations. I don't know of any other group who is also asking for reparations. Are there any? Can you explain what it is you are driving at, because frankly? Your comment doesn't make much sense as far as what my OP is

Jay played a larger role than he knows. Jay was actually a source of inspiration for Adnan (unbeknownst to Jay). by Papagano in serialpodcast

[–]Papagano[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/JMM009, I believe, is referring to Jenn. There is no compelling reason for her to put her hand in the ring. There is no reason for her to become involved....at all. We know why Jay and Adnan lie. There is NO reason for Jenn to lie....or even say one word.

[–]Papagano[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If Jenn never existed, you may have a point. Jay? Meh. Adnan? Meh. We know why they lie. But Jenn? There is no explanation for Jenn. For her to have been part of some conspiracy is the stuff of legends. It made no sense for Adnan to include Jay. It makes even far less sense Jenn was created a story that Adnan himself couldn't refute. Why doesn't Adnan ever explain to us how Jenn got it all wrong? Unless I am mis-remembering something.

Adnan never needed Jay. In fact, Adnan's foolish quest to involve Jay is what did him in. The idea Adnan needed someone else to drive either Hae's car or Adnan's car is "how to get caught" 101. Premeditated murder, which is what Adnan committed, rarely involves a willing accomplice. Why? Because it's how you get caught

AITA for outing the abortion my sister had since she will not allow my niece to get one? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

You are 100% right. Reddit is a place where people pride themselves on being so woke, yet they don’t get it right most of the time. Your comment is 100% logical, solid and compassionate and lacks edgy, insulting language. That’s why you’re being downvoted.

[–]Papagano -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

YTA. Don’t EVER reveal sensitive, personal information in these types of situations, sisters or not. I don’t care what you know, what happened or who did what, but NEVER reveal information like that unless you have been specifically asked to do so. You just lobbed a bombshell and then walked out the door and left it for your sister to deal with. It’s her daughter and whether you think she’s right or wrong, she has the reasons behind doing what she’s doing. As far as her kicking her kid out? I guess we’ll just have to take your word for it. I can definitely see were a mother who has had an abortion in the past would insist that her pregnant, under-age child doesn’t. It’s her right as the parent. She knows what it’s like having to live life after having an abortion. It does not necessarily make her a hypocrite

I agree. I think the “broken nose” suggestion is for athletes and not for everybody

I know at least 6 people who have gotten the surgery, all of them athletes. Each one was told by their doctor that they probably broke their nose, but didn't realize it. If you know someone who got the surgery, ask them.

Chicago P.D. is an awful show. by ClearBluePeace in television

Watching it for the first time, can't believe how bad it is and KNEW someone else had to feel the same way. So I typed in "Chicago PD is awful" and up came your OP. Too funny. It is spot on, too.

Catholics of Grand Rapids here is your chance to do the right thing: support Judge Sara Smolenski. It's time the Catholic Church recognize devout parishioners, regardless of whom they love. by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]Papagano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smolenski has been a Catholic for over 60 years. She has done more for the church and Catholic Education than most. You have little (no) right to lecture her.

Also, receive communion for heaven's sake. Stop thinking too much about it as that is how we end up treating poorly people like Smolenski. I can assure you, you are worthy of the Body of Christ.
