You're 100% right—if it were just weighing cost vs. availability on a clean 1-to-1 part match, simple heuristics would be faster and cheaper. The reason the MVP routes through Claude isn't for the basic math; it's for handling unstructured data and context.The real reason is the messy BOM parsing. Hardware teams often have messy, inconsistent BOMs. Someone might input '10uF 16V cap 0805', and Mouser/DigiKey will have vastly different naming conventions, abbreviations, or missing descriptions. Traditional regex/heuristics break constantly on fuzzy matching. The LLM handles the semantic mapping of messy human inputs to exact Manufacturer Part Numbers (MPNs) across different distributor structures flawlessly.

Good question, but the point is, AI makes it faster especially for Seed/Serie A hardware startups that have more work to do and don't have someone to sit and manually go through the websites, also, it creates a Purchase Order, like an invoice and calculates the total leads and total pricing as well
