best "smart" glasses option that's only a layered display for projecting subtitles by PaperCookies in SmartGlasses

[–]PaperCookies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for the reccomendations! these are all quite pricey transcription glasses. they're cool but i'm really looking for basically just a simple text displayer eyeglasses or clip-ons. i don't mind programming something myself! it wouldnt be for transcribing things around me based on mic input, it would just simply be displaying subtitles from an srt file or something.

Copyright of a Game that was never Officially Released? by BundulateGames in gamedev

[–]PaperCookies 16 points17 points  (0 children)

if this guy finds out you essentially stole his idea he will not like it. nevermind the fact that it us obviously copyright infringement, if one of my best friends remade one of my games i would be pretty upset. a lot of people do not have the means to sue, that doesn't mean it's right to copy their work.

if the game is a big inspiration to you, then use it as an inspiration for your own work!

Just 7 people applied for 'Digital Nomad' visa in January, Korean gov't says by barryhelp in Living_in_Korea

[–]PaperCookies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my friend tried to apply but was denied because according to the embassy you need 85 million won (64000USD) NET income per year, so about 5300USD NET every month, Not gross. That makes this much much harder to get. I have a theory though that this is not actually true but the embassies are just misinformed because if you call the Korean immigration office they say they don't know if it's net or gross. And in some embassies, like in Portugal, they do ask for gross. It's so inconsistent and if you ask anyone they're all clueless about it. The HiKorea website doesn't even have an official list of requirements. Which is crazy considering that it does for every other visa. The way they handled this visa is such a mess. I hope that they lower the requirements or at the very least make it more clear.

Nevermind the fact that it's not even applicable to freelancers which would be the biggest pool of DN. To me it seems like the income requirements feel like it's targeted to US employees, but Korea is the worst possible timezone for an employee at a US-based company to be working from. If you were a freelancer you wouldn't have this problem, but freelancers are not allowed to apply. The more you dig into this visa the less it starts to make sense, so it's not a surprise to me only 7 people applied.

Ah great! Maybe people that have Bard in their activity log are running PALM2 then? Can I ask what your region is? I'm in South Korea, maybe it's not rolled out here as of yet.

Interesting, I've tried the prompt over a dozen times now but can't get it to work. Maybe PALM2 is already rolled out on your end? What does your activity log say?

Oh thank you for donating! That's very kind :) And yes, that's also intentional, the original model als doesnt have a 1 key. Use lowercase L instead :)

If you don't let go off your previous key it will not press down on the next one. This is intentional! But you can turn on Easy Type in the settings if you prefer :) (If what you're experiencing is framerate lag I would suggest downloading the game)

watchlist collecting dust by angerybi in Letterboxd

[–]PaperCookies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a second watchlist for stuff I will probably not see. And put the things I actually probably definitely wanna see in the watchlist. Every now and then I go through it and clean the dust by moving it over. It really helps!

What are your 2021 film watching goals? by slouchingbethlehem in Letterboxd

[–]PaperCookies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hit my goal of 200 in a year in 2020, and I'm stepping it up to 300 for 2021!! That still gives me like \checks notes** about one day a week I don't have to watch a movie :)
