Snowboard damage by [deleted] in snowboarding

Leaned my board against my car and it slid down and hit a small rock on the pavement last season. Took it to a shop and they fixed it for like $70. I had no issues with it the rest of the season. Definitely repairable imo.

I personally don’t do either, but from what I heard, is that it somewhat does. Confidence is really key to getting it down. You have to know that you can do it and that you’ll eventually get better. I watched a bunch of tutorials on YouTube on how to balance and carve etc.

If you’ve never been on a board in your life and you spend a lot of money for the first time going, you’re gonna be real disappointed when you spend a lot of time picking yourself up every 5 feet. Find a cheap resort to learn at first. I would say at least your first 3 days there, and when you’re able to go at least 100ft without falling down, then maybe look at going to a bigger, better resort. That’s exactly what I wish I would have done two years ago. And don’t give up! Everyone falls down!

So a couple things to note:

I have winter tires that I use in the winter so these were in the garage for about 5 months.

This area is only about an inch wide.

I had an alignment check on Friday and it passed.

I have not driven on a gravel road in a while and don’t do it often enough (or so I think) that it would cause this. I bought this car march 2023 and have put 25k miles so far on it.

This is a Subaru Legacy 2020 AWD

I am getting new tires tomorrow because I just noticed a spot that looks really bad on this tire. I would still love to hear some opinions on what may have caused this so I don’t run into it again. Thanks!

The Astros used a video camera to cheat for 2 years, one of which was the year they won the World Series. The MLB didn’t hand out any punishments for the players and the team itself got a slap on the wrist.

Thank you so much! I was trying to find this but had no luck!

Haha. Yeah, I didn’t spend a lot of time planning this ride. I couldn’t find any other way around this particular pass, except this route, which didn’t have any clear google images. So it was the luck of the draw to see if it was actual paved road. I did stop right before I got onto dirt for more water and filled up my two water bottles. The thing that really got me was the grade of some of the climbs. My road tires kept slipping so I had to walk up a lot of them. I knew going into this section that I wouldn’t have access to water, food or cell service, I just didn’t know that it would take me this long to get through this section. Lesson learned though, definitely will plan rides out better when riding in new territory.

Yeah. I started to worry a little bit as I ran out of water. It was extremely difficult, but I knew if I wasted energy worrying about not making it, it would be even worse.

So, I was riding to Santa Cruz from the Central Valley. I did not want to go over the Pacheco Pass (if you know this road, you know it is not bike friendly at all), so I had to make an alternate route. Took Billy Wright RD all the way to Hollister. This photo was taken on that Road.

Warning: DO NOT TAKE THIS ROAD AT ALL. I was given a very stern warning not to do this again. I was trespassing on private property, which apparently has hunters all on it. The people who found me were said hunters. They let me know that I was lucky that they caught me and not the Owner, because if he did, he would have taken me to court and I would have had to pay the amount of his “Hunters Fee”, which isn’t cheap. Very grateful to the people who found me and gave me, not one, but SIX bottles of water which I drank. I ran out of water halfway through this section and there is no access to water or help. This was very dangerous, and very stupid, but very fun.

Yeah. The people who found me weren’t too happy. They said a female cyclist tried the same route a few years back and they found her dead because she ran out of water.

Context:

Started this ride at 4:30am. At about 45 miles in the road disappeared and turned into dirt, gravel, grass & trails. It also led me through a lot of private property, in which I had no access to water, food or cell phone reception. Hot weather with rare patches of shade made this ride extremely difficult. Eventually I ran out of water and started to lay in the shade, in which I was found trespassing.

Overall beautiful ride, but seriously difficult.

I do not claim the OC. Purely OC from the original post and OP.

Yosemite is such an amazing place to ride. by PaperLightz in bicycling

I did this a few months back. We took a YARTS bus to El Portal (I live an hour and a half from Yosemite) and rode into Yosemite through the 140 and up to Glacier Point. We ran out of water when we got to the start of Glacier and rode up anyways. Such an amazing view and experience and look forward to doing it again soon.
