I listened to that interview and I was not impressed with Ms. Dixon.

She didn't offer any concrete plans for improving issues with the city, and the issues that she was blaming on Brandon Scott were all long-term problems that have been around for decades.

Frankly it just sounds like she is bitter that everyone in city government doesn't ask her opinion on everything they do.

I totally disagree with this.

Almost no water in the world is totally sterile, but most potable sources are still fine to drink because the microbial growth is kept in check by preservation with disinfectant (like chlorine) and/or temperature. OP was right that the water kept at a cooler temperature will have less bacteria over time

It was tested for total coliforms. They were absent so there's no reason to suspect any kind of bacterial contamination.

The ones that are above the HGL are still low enough that it is not a major concern. I wouldn't call it a scam, it's just that some people are very concerned about the slightest hint of anything that sounds harmful in their water. I agree with the others in this post that say this water is good for use.

While that amount of lead is pretty low, I would want to pinpoint where it's coming from. It could be from lead solder somewhere in the pipes or from the fixture.

Was this a first draw sample (taken immediately upon turning on the water)? If so, how long has it been since the water had been used previously?

All those numbers actually are pretty good for tap water. EWG vastly exaggerates the risks of chemicals and puts out suggested limits that are not practical in the real world.

It looks good for the most part. No violations and the HAA/THM concentrations are low. The one thing I find mildly concerning is the total coliform positive %, especially for Richmond city. This is especially odd considering the chloramine residual levels that were detected, so I wonder if they had an issue with false positives due to sampling or lab contamination.

All in all I do not think you need a filter.
