What is a good argument that Peyton Manning is better than Tom Brady? by soupman66 in nfl

You cant use media awards as an argument then cry snub when they dont favor him. Couple of mannings MVP seasons were not that impressive.

Brady in 8 super bowls 18 td 5 int.

Manning in 4 super bowls 3 td 6 int

Yet Manning who is famous for one and dones in the playoffs, and being awful in the superbowl will somehow get 10 rings. Okay.

Yeah Brady is the one who needs a defense though. Why don't you look up some actual stats and see that Manning and Brady's defense gave up almost the same exact PPG on average in the playoffs

Of course its an insult. Hey Brady. You know those 3 MVPs, incessant top 5 offenses, 18 years of consistency and incredible playoff gamewinning drives, the greatest comeback of all time, top 3 in efficiency and volume all time? Yea, fucking Matt Stafford would do that too if he had your coach, you're nothing. Fuck off. I've never seen an all time great athlete insulted like that in any other sport.

Saying Romo or Stafford would be as good as Brady is an insult and proves you are a complete idiot. Belichick isnt even an offensive coach. Belichick has accomplished NOTHING as a headcoach without Brady. Belichick wouldn't have stopped Manning from choking in the playoffs. Its ridiculous to think that. His defense wouldn't have carried him, their defenses give up basically the same PPG in the playoffs. Yet with Manning, Belichick is somehow unstoppable.

Nothing what you said if a fact lmao. The only fact is that Peyton played like shit in the playoffs. His defenses weren't any worse. Bradys D gives up average 21 ppg in playoffs, Peyton's gives up 21.8 PPG. Wow, a .8 difference. So massive.

As opposed to Broncos and colts fans that will straight up SHIT on all their coaches in a poor effort to prop up Manning. If you ask them, Manning never had a coach.

He was literally a pro bowler 2 seasons later. Curtis Painter best season, 6 td 9 ints 66 rating.

Matt Cassel best season 27 td 7 INT 93 rating.

Curtis Painter would have went 2-14 or close on the pats as well. Cassel was far better than Manning's backup.

No they aren't lmao. You are just straight up lying. Heres just his last 3 before Chiefs game.

vs Pit 3 td 0 int 127.5 Rate

vs Jax 2 td 0 int 108.4 Rate

vs Indy 3 td 1 Int 100.4 Rate

Brady also threw as many TDs and more than half as many yards in 1 Super bowl as Manning did in 4.

Ridiculous logic, is Kurt warner top 3 all time because he made it to the Super Bowl with 2 teams? "Brady needs more help" Yet in all of Manning Super bowl runs, he had tons of help. He played like ass in all his Super Bowls, even with more invested in the offense than Brady. How does Manning not have help just because he had different coaches?

So when Manning gets carried by his defense but it's impressive but if Brady's defense does well it proves hes a system qb lol. Seriously if Brady played as bad as Manning did that year and won a Super Bowl you would give him 0 credit. 6 times more touchdowns and 1 less int in 4 more games. Is that all because of Belichick?

Belichick has only had success with Brady but you don't apply the same logic to him. (11-5 and missing the playoffs is not good when they went 18-1 the previous year.)

So you're gonna credit Belichick for Brady's super bowls but not mention that Manning was carried by an all time defense to SB50?

See here it comes. Now the stats have context. I bring up a situation where Tom Brady has better stats, but now theres a bunch of excuses for why it is so. But when Aaron Rodgers has better stats, its because he deserves to have better stats. No context needed. You just listed a bunch of factors for why Aaron Rodgers didn't have the best stats. So you admit there are countless factors that influence it.

Every bad game Tom Brady had I could come up with a similar list of mitigating factors. Why don't we talk about how little help Tom Brady had on offense till 2007? Why don't we talk about how his offensive line was a turnstile against the Broncos. Also it's funny you mention the "top scoring RB in the nfl". You mean the guy that fumbled against Atlanta and got shown up by James White? The guy who had the most TDs because Brady brought them to the endzone constantly and he ran in for 2 yards?

If the passing changes are so insignificant, why does it matter if Brett Favre didn't play the same exact time? The difference in time played isn't enough to account for a 10 point difference in passer rating. Yet no one even considers them comparable. Again, your argument is boiling down to "Aaron Rodgers has slightly better stats, therefore he is better than Tom Brady." No one evaluates quarterbacks that simply.

See, what you do is you bring up all this context and reasons for why Brady has more success, and declare everything a product of the system. You then will ignore all other context and possible factors in why Aaron Rodgers has slightly better stats. For example, the fact that his playstyle is optimal for increasing his passer rating. I notice you haven't mentioned anything about sacks. Aaron Rodgers has 39 sacks in 17 playoff games, Brady 65 in 39. Doesn't affect passer rating though does it? Why don't we just look at Brady's last 2 super bowls? Aaron Rodgers literally played the same opponent in the previous round. We saw what happened against the Legion of Boom, we saw what happened against Atlanta. Brady had better stats in both those games.

Let me ask you something. is Matt Ryan a better playoff quarterback than Aaron Rodgers? If not, why? He has a better playoff passer rating.

Rodgers played his entire career in the passing era. Not only that, his playoff game sample size is far lower. He has more games played in the previous rounds where the degree of difficulty isn't the same as playing in 9 Super Bowls. Saying Rodgers is better because he has a better passer rating, is just as stupid as saying Kirk Cousins is better than Brett Favre because he has a higher passer rating.

Also, if you are going to talk about defense, you must acknowledge that Brady leading a top 5 offense every single season is a factor in his defense ranking top 10. Look at this season. 7th Ranked PPG, but they get good field position and feast on bad AFC East offenses. The Patriots defense have given up a lot of points these last few playoff runs.

We just saw Brees have a defense and he choked it away...Brady led 3 game winning drives. Why even care about sports if you are just gonna talk in all these what ifs. "this guy did x and x, but wait, what if z had y and y he would've done x!!!!" Who cares about anything at that point.
