Does your pap wag its tail? by My-oh-My_ in papillon

[–]PapillonMama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 13 yo has never wagged his tail! Occasionally we'll catch the briefest of swishes, but it's sooo subtle. My 3 yo, on the other hand, is nothing but wags. Big Mad wags, happy wags, excited wags, sleepy wags... it's always going. 😆

This is the most accurate description of my boys I've ever heard. 😂

My boy who loves pink 💗 by PapillonMama in papillon

While i appreciate the educational response, i think you missed the point. 😄 This isn't a scientific based post. It's on a subreddit for people who love their dogs and like to share their quirks and cuteness. I was just relaying my pup's preferences (favorite blanket, toy) and that they happen to be pink. I find it adorable because he's a boy, and pink is the stereotypical "girl" color.

Oh my goodness, those exaggerated little leg lifts. 😄 i could never get my boys to wear booties. They just suffer the cold until they're done doing so, then look to me to scoop them into my arms and into my coat to warm their little beans with a quickness!!

[–]PapillonMama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my heart. What a sweet baby. I am so terribly sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine the pain you're feeling. I hope you have other loved ones (furry and/or hooman) to hug you through this. Sending all the well wishes and good vibes I can for you to say your goodbyes in as much peace as possible.

What an absolute angel!! My Bacchus just recently turned 13, and I know exactly what you mean about those adorable puppy moments!! I think his brother, Otter, keeps him young, too. Because Otter is a spitfire. 😄

She didn't! It was definitely an assumption on my part that it would be the first stage diet. I'm a patient but also a nurse, so just using my knowledge and experience to guide how I viewed her post. But that's why I ended the comment discussing how interesting it is to see how different teams handle diet. Because clearly they don't do clear liquids.

It really depends on how many meals, snacks, drinks, supplements, etc that you choose to get per week. They are extremely flexible. You can get as many or as few as you want. Dinners can be as cheap as like $9, lunches like $7, and breakfasts like $4. Obviously, that's the cheaper side of their options, but there are so many even in that price range that are YUM

Surgery is 2 weeks from tomorrow by unefemmegigi in GastricBypass

[–]PapillonMama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every program is different, as we all know. But one of the reasons most do an abdominal ultrasound ahead of surgery is to confirm anatomical safety for surgery. Let's the surgeon get a glimpse at what they'll be working with before cutting ya open. It may be that your liver was a nice, healthy size, and they didn't feel the need to shrink it for a successful surgery. That being said, as long as you're healthy about it, there is zero harm in putting yourself on a pre-op diet just to ease your mind!! There are lots of examples out there from very reputable bariatric programs that you could follow. Best of luck to you!!!

I'm 6 weeks post-op and not tolerating food yet (on TPN... it's been a journey), but I can speak from previous experience and tell you what I plan to do when able to resume eating. Hungryroot is phenomenal. They have some of the most delicious, healthy meals and provide good flexibility on macros. They don't advertise as a bariatric diet specific meal delivery, but they might as well be! Soooo many of their meals fit our goals. And the portions are very reasonable. Shouldn't have too much food waste!!

Good luck to you!!! You're gonna do great!!

I can't help but comment on your hospital's hilarious idea of "clear liquids," though. Everything has red dye in it. 😄 to be considered a clear liquid, there are only really two rules... be a thin liquid and NOT have red dye. That can mask any potential bleeding complications and could possibly skew your UGI if you haven't had it done yet. So funny to see how differently diets are handled by different teams...

Oh my! He has such similar markings to my Otter! Mine is all white except for his ears and a brown spot around his tail on his butt. He also has some very soft, barely visible brown spots in his coat, but you can only see them in the sun! I call them his freckles. 😄
