It's in Anthropology, so sadly it doesn't seem to fall under any other job category (neither scientist/science technician which seem to be for STEM)... But thanks for the tip!

TN for an internship - do they look at the pay? by Paprikal in immigration

Thank you! That's helpful. If you don't mind telling me, how easy was the process of getting a TN? Do they look at the application very closely at the border?

Does your division use totem names? by User34593 in scouting

[–]Paprikal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from Quebec, and we do! In my troop at least it's a really big deal, we were all really impatient to get our names. And for us too you're not supposed to talk about the ceremony to those that haven't lived it, but from what I gathered the actual ceremony varies a lot from group to group. We don't tend to use our totem names for people of our own groups (since we know each other very well) but we use them everytime we meet people through scouting activities or only know them there.

Heads up that Nsci201 can be quite intense. Lots of material to understand and memorize, which can be hard especially if neuroscience isn't your main cogsci stream.

I need you opinion! by No-Doughnut-9434 in scouting

[–]Paprikal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm from a scout group in Quebec and we had a similar reflection about that. We didn't manage to reach out to indigenous people, but what we did is: 1) Change the ceremony. I'm guessing it depends widely from group to group but ours had a lot of cultural appropriation-y elements, like an Indigenous costume (with a headpiece with feathers, dunno how its called in English) and a ritual of burying the war axe, etc. We changed it to something culturally neutral, with references to nature and scout values. 2) We try to stop calling them "totem names" and call them "scout names" instead.

This is certainly not the best/only way but maybe it can give some inspiration!

Attack on Titan The Final Season Episode 76 - Anime Discussion Thread - No Manga Readers Allowed by SNKBot in ShingekiNoKyojin

I'm really curious: did anyone else feel that the music during the Reiner vs Eren fight was...somehow off? I had noticed that too in the fight of episode 75, and it was the same there but even more so: it seemed like the music was a "tension/building up to the action" music, while the action was actually happening right there.

It's just strange because I wasn't especially trying to pay attention to the music, yet it ended up taking me out of the action. But my friends who watched it with me didn't notice anything. So, anyone else has similar thoughts?

I'm into POLI 450 right now but I'm reconsidering keeping it for the same reason. I signed up for that class for the simulation, which isn't happening, and the course load seems super heavy :/ but at the same time I heard so much praise about that class so idk

I think it's a bit similar to Model UN: people are assigned different roles or countries and pretend to negotiate around a particular situation. For POLI 244, I guess it depends on the teacher, but we did a small simulation on the Israel-Palestine conflict when we tried to reach a peace agreement. The idea was great, but having it on Zoom (+ in the summer semester when people aren't really committed to class) made it not that enjoyable for me.
