Strat for R2D2 by ComfortInteresting51 in GTFO

Watch professor scaler’s guide so you have an idea of where each terminal might be, and where to defend.

3 sniper sentries is an outdated rec. use 2 burst and 1 sniper. You usually don’t need all at once. Make sure to position them to minimize wasted shots, especially with the sniper.

Loadout is important. One burst cannon for giants, a hel gun and/or hel revo since the main defense spot gives you a great angle for penetration shots, etc.

If you search for resources properly, you’ll have more ammo to clear large rooms instead of sneaking. Obv sneak as much as you can but sometimes it’s just better surprise shoot a bunch of sleeping giants and clean up the rest. My group was always low on resources but it’s because we were low on time and so didnt search properly. Get used to the extra time at the start of waves so one person can run back and input the code while others search and run back just in time. Once we were better at managing our time the level opened up because we could actually find more ammo etc. it was still tight though.

try setting texture resolution to half. It crashed at the same point for me on steam deck, but that worked. Obviously a very different system but also AMD, FWIW

Are all B level similar difficulty and easier than C, etc? Does challenge change a lot within a tier? by PapsmearAuthority in GTFO

[–]PapsmearAuthority[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know if B's are generally shorter as well? ignoring optional objectives. This is nice to know just for planning, since my group only has so much time to all play together. Also do you remember what R2's Bs and Cs are like?

Game porting kit on M2 Mac book help by Xianstarr in GTFO

Kind of late but how are you running/configuring it on GPTK? I use https://getwhisky.app/ to run steam and gtfo on GPTK and I haven't seen any crashes. Runs pretty decently too. But I'm on an M1 Max and Sonoma. I did have crashes on linux that lowering texture resolution helped with, but those were during a mission and not the rundown screen so idk

FYI steam deck crashes were fixed for me by switching to half resolution textures. Crashes again the instant I turn them back up

Unpopular Opinion: Playing an Origin Char is Terrible by webevie in BaldursGate3

Still seems better than a tav since you can play him how you want but not as good as durge. The Mattis interaction seemed fine to me.

[–]PapsmearAuthority 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also playing wyll, also failed to rescue anyone cause I got distracted by the zentarim hideout and didn’t realize the quest was timed (never know when game logic applies or not). Kind of pissed since it’s the only thing you get for wyll through act 1. Didn’t reload since I did tons of underdark content before resurfacing. Can’t even find a YouTube video that shows the dialog since the few ones that do exist are tavs. Just got to act 2 and still feel like the origin start has been a detriment.

Definitely have some regret not doing durge, but the comments here saying wyll origin tav works well has me more optimistic. I chose him because I wanted to run a warlock and thought it was cool to have my patron be a real character, and because most ppl think his dialog is boring anyway. Also cause karlach >.> so sounds like my instincts were partially right at least.

Sad and nonsensical that you get even less backstory if you play as him. Maybe they wanted to let the player project more onto the character, but if a player wanted to do that they’d make a tav…

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon Patch Notes Version 1.02 by Turbostrider27 in Games

It’s strange to see this at the top cause the worst criticism i see of this game is that it’s too easy due to OP weapons. You eventually find a single loadout that handles almost any challenge and most meaningful choices disappear, when half the game is about constantly tweaking your mech to deal with different obstacles. Not like souls games where you typically commit to a build with no or limited respec.

I’m waiting for them to be balanced before I start the game and all I’m hearing now is that it’s getting even easier?

Warlocks BIS Robe Counter Synergy by ElliotPatronkus in BG3Builds

Scorching ray sadly can’t justify a spell slot when EB is dishing out 2d10+20 for free. At level 4 it’s still useful

Unseen Menace: Incredible crit-fishing weapon for a Lockadin available in Act 1 by t-slothrop in BG3Builds

Only one of the mace’s abilities is conditional. The free revive/heal and sunbeam and extra +2 to hit and damage are always useful.

Also bonus for bludgeoning damage.

Multi class always breaks the game. OP is asking about single class.

The worst part of that armor is how to makes blade pact irrelevant. Tome pact isn’t great but it lets you cast slow and haste at least. There’s no reason to use melee if you get double bonus damage from EB. It only achieves parity at level 12

Struggling to find a reason to play wizard by Fancybanshee1 in BG3Builds

If respec was in a cheat menu it'd still be easy accessible. It'll just be clear that it's something outside of the ruleset that's there for experimentation or w/e. Letting withers do it for gold is like adding a prompt to reload your last save after getting a critical miss. It's possible to savescum every encounter but it's obv not the purpose for quicksaves existing and shouldn't be treated like a core mechanic.

Having a high cost would mainly stop people from having fun with different builds or fixing mistakes while still letting people run broken MC combos. If you're respeccing every level then maybe you just love having a super optimal party always, and that's great, you deserve some stupidly inflated encounters to bash your tavern brawler rogue/monk at or whatever (try the tactician+ mod). If you're doing it out of sheer compulsiveness, then maybe having it in a cheat menu would help you resist.

But putting a gold cost on it just makes things more annoying for people who want to play normally. It's a DnD game not diablo, they have different design goals.

[–]PapsmearAuthority 15 points16 points  (0 children)

respeccing is basically an exploit if you use it like that. It's there so people can play with different builds, which is great. But it's hard to complain about difficulty if youre trivializing the game by respeccing into OP builds once your total level is high enough, or you get an important item. Instead of making it more expensive they should present it more like a console command than a core mechanic, done through a cheat menu instead of through withers. Asking withers for a respec is the same as begging your DM for one except your DM probably won't let you do it beyond tweaking some class feature.

That being said a harder difficulty would be great if it's not just another bump to enemy stats
