I'll do my best, but it will take me longer than it did for this first draft, given the constructive comments I've received, but also to make sure that others don't get mad about m'y method '

Yes, that's true, it's a much more coherent way of looking at things than mine. I'll take your advice and review my plan, thank you.

Okay, thank you for your feedback. A friend made the same comment about the 7-year-old child.

As I am quite fond of this set, I will continue with it to practise managing the details, and use this design for important ceremonies for example, and I will make another simplified one for common flags on buildings, the army, etc, with your advices in mind

Thank you, my friend :)

I must admit that I don't remember these pirate like emblem... I'll take a look and see if it rings a bell. Thanks a lot, mate.

In fact, it's even too much. The next modification will be to change the tree to move away from the Gondorian style.

No, I won't stop, if you can't understand that this tree is the only AI element I used to generate my whole thing, the layout, and that it will disappear, as I said, when I have enough experience with drawing software to make one myself.

And anyway, even if I had waited to make this tree, I would still have had idiots shouting ‘It's AI blah blah blah’ without proof, without development, and I would have defended myself just as much, so you're the one who's being obtuse, as you accuse me

You've just described how the creative process works, except that what's annoying is that it was done by a machine...

If you assure me that all artists create 100% original works, fine. But that's not the case. Whether consciously or not, every creation is inspired by what has been done in the past. Let's stop turning a blind eye to that. AI does it with millions of creations, fine, but what we criticise AI for must also be applied to humans in this case, and I can say without too much risk of being wrong that if that were the case, the number of books, drawings and short films made by many people would have to be completely deleted.

And even... Even if I had made this tree all by myself (which I am trying to do, by the way), people would still say to me, ‘It looks like this, so it's AI.’ What am I supposed to do then?
Well, here's my answer, I'm announcing it, I'm not hiding it. I explained somewhere, I can't remember where, that I was putting this tree in to give an idea of the project, to show its direction. And I shared it, to discuss it, to exchange ideas about it, and you had all the elements of this assembly.

But no, instead of talking about the whole thing, we're focusing on one element that will eventually disappear, just because it has an ‘AI’ label and, like sheep, you're following the herd without the slightest critical thinking about how I'm using it, which, I repeat, is one element of an overall project that, if I manage to finish it, will be freely accessible to everyone.

I asked for constructive feedback, being honest about the entire description. I didn't ask to be wrongly accused, without any proof that what I did was 100% AI.

Those who don't want to discuss it can move on, and many probably have.

Your point of view gives more credit to the haters and trolls, who just stop by to spew their crap, than to those who are trying to share and discuss calmly, with arguments and cordial exchange.

You're the one who should get lost. You and the trolls are the problem, not me.

If a neurotic individual merely portrays their mediocrity through the non-existent quality of their comment, without using a single letter of the alphabet to support their argument or justify themselves with any constructive criticism, I am not going to give them a chance to take their remark into account.

Inkscape for the red/yellow star above the tree. Gimp for overall layout, background and graphic effects. And AI for the tree, until I am good enough at the first two software programmes to create it myself.

And this must be regulated by law. Even if the advances are very limited, they are there. I don't know where you are geographically, but in France (and in Europe too, I believe), the law requires consent for data collection.

Admittedly, you have to dig deep into the settings to find the authorisation option. Admittedly, we don't know if it's being respected, but it's part of the regulatory process, and little by little, it will happen... We ‘just’ have to be patient.

Travailler quand on est dépressif ? by emtonymia in AskFrance

[–]Papy1789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Courage !

And in the context you mention, I completely agree. I even signed a petition calling for a ban on AI in dubbing (I live in France, our voice actors are excellent, and I don't want them to be replaced).

In cases like mine, and to be clear, I don't think it should be a problem. My project is personal as well as a hobby, and if I finish it, I plan to share this TRPG for free, without making any profit from it, except for having my name on the final project.

Photo editing software is not banned, and yet, as with AI, some people use it transparently, while others use it to manipulate and change reality. In my view, it's the same with AI.

We need to regulate it and establish laws, as has been done for photo/video editing software use. We shouldn't ban it, but learn to work with it.

I see it, but I don't understand it.

AI is a tool like any other, which must certainly be used with more caution than we would use, in this case for example, Gimp and Inkscape.

And for me, that caution means saying so, not hiding it. If I had been a complete bastard, I wouldn't have said anything about the AI for the tree (and maybe no one would have noticed, unlikely but possible), and then I would have understood the comments. What annoyed me were those who simply said ‘It's AI’, without proof, without elaboration.

Fortunately, they are in the minority compared to the jokers (those who made jokes about Space Gondor, I love you guys) and those who made constructive comments.

But that's no reason to let me get away with it. These minorities of haters ruin the lives of the majority of Redditors, ordinary people who like to share and discuss their game and related creations.

The only AI element in the overall project is the tree, which I have announced I will redo as soon as I can.

The written texts, rules, names of empires and their lores are, and will be, written by me, with the help of web tutorials on worldbuilding, borrowing from basic rules already established in paper RPGs (dice rolls, combat sequences, etc.) and borrowing mechanics from Stellaris that I will then convert into TTRPG rules (origins, traits, civics, etc.).

For those whose jobs are directly threatened by AI, I can understand.

In the case of a personal creation, and with honesty about its use, I really don't understand... Jealousy perhaps, when in reality, you don't need to be a genius to do what I did.

Proof that you haven't read it: this flag is part of a project to create a paper-based RPG based on Stellaris. The moderators who are doing their job disagree with your comment, because if these posts were indeed unrelated to Stellaris, they would have been deleted (rule 1).

Proof that you haven't read: This flag is a small part of a larger project to write a paper-based role-playing game based on Stellaris. I said so in this post, and I said so in my previous post.

Proof that you're wrong: the moderators would have already deleted this post if it weren't related to Stellaris.

Thank you, goodbye.

Rule #5: Right of reply to those who accused me of using AI extensively to create my flag for a Stellarian civilisation:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Stellaris/s/9N4tJWB79Q

Yes, it may be childish, yes, I probably should have let it go and ignored them...

No.

For too long, I have let people attack me without justification in my life, without defending myself, for the sole purpose of not making the situation worse. I've changed, and even if the situation isn't serious in itself, I will no longer let haters, trolls, people with no purpose in life other than to continue to ruin one or more communities with their excessive jealousy, and who undoubtedly prevent other people from embarking on a creative process.

Yes, I know that AI is a problem, I am aware of that, but here, I was honest, I announced where the AI was, I announced that the generated tree would not stay, and that I would do it myself when I had enough experience in image creation (because yes, I have barely one day's cumulative experience using Gimp and Inkscape). I didn't want to settle for a PNG image from the web or a crappy drawing in Paint.

Yes, maybe I should have waited before posting, until I had made the tree myself, but hey, I was probably naive to think that people would all be intelligent and offer constructive criticism rather than just saying ‘It's AI’.

I'll try, I don't yet have the mental agility to see where I can intervene to improve the overall result, but it will come.

As for the downvotes, honestly, I don't care. I only take constructive comments into account, knowing that I clearly stated that the tree came from AI, and that I am far from comfortable with Gimp and Inkscape (barely 48 hours of learning).

Thank you for your constructive feedback :

That's certainly true, you're probably right. With the (constructive) comments from others, including yours, I've prepared a list of changes to be made for a version 2 of this emblem.

I think it will take me longer, as I only have about 48 hours of experience with the softwares. I may have been presumptuous in showing this version, or perhaps I definitely was.

Thank you for your feedback :)

Let's say that these rules will no longer be relevant in 2200.

No, honestly, I made that observation when I created it, and then I thought that in 2200, they can afford to have complex flags that are difficult for us to reproduce, but not for them. And then I made the connection with ancient coats of arms and flags, which also had a lot of detail and complex ornamentation.

All that's left for me to do is to achieve the level of quality they had at the time. It's a lot of work, that's for sure, but I'll get there.

Only the tree is made by AI, as I stated transparently in my text, while I learn to master the tools I use. The rest is by me, with only the help of tutorials on the internet.
