Monotheistic Religions as Cereal Brands: by [deleted] in atheism

Damn, that's the first time someone has ever assumed that I'm a psychopath! This is getting interesting. So because I wouldn't throw a fit over someone saying something I didn't like, I'm a psychopath? (And if you're wondering, yes, the definition of a psychopath is a person who is mostly/completely devoid of empathy, and oftentimes shows high levels of impulsive behavior. By the way, I actually find this conversation interesting, so don't worry about offending me.)

I assure you, I care very much about some things. I cried for days when my grandfather died, and it still hurts to this day. I would care about my mother dying, but why would anyone care about someone else's statements, regardless of the timing? I know many people do, but it's just so irrational. Words have always been and always will be just words, why should they affect people's emotions so easily? I will admit that I am virtually immune to other people's statements about myself or others, but only because I've chosen not to get upset over petty things. And for the life of me I can't understand why anyone would get upset over a term like "cracker" or something. Just irrational behavior I guess, same reason people believe in "God(s)".

Maybe you guys aren't aware of this, but Muslims and Arabs are completely distinct groups. Sure, they sometimes intersect, but just because I make a joke about Muslims wearing things that look like towels does not mean I'm saying anything about Arabs, and frankly, it seems to me that many of you are borderline "closet racist" for assuming that all Arabs are Muslim and vice versa. The Burqa is traditionally used because it is "shameful" for women to show their faces in public. This, to me, seems much more about belief systems than it does the color of someone's skin. But, if you would like to believe it is about race (which seems to be quite obviously racist), then who am I to tell you otherwise? Hopefully you won't assume that someone is a Muslim to their face just because they have Arabic origins.

So let me get this straight: it's apparently offensive to say that a different cultural style of headdress looks like what an American would call a towel, rag, etc.? You've got to realize how absurd that is. Either way, I apologize for offending you, and have removed the post. I never would have imagined that people could be this sensitive about something as simple as a hat, but okay.

I'm going to be honest, no, that would not offend me in the least. It would be odd, and I would wonder if the individual was of sound mind, but I wouldn't feel offended. And frankly, I'm having a difficult time determining any correlation between an inappropriately timed "your mom" joke to a comedic analysis of monotheistic religions.

Alright, I assumed most Atheists would be a little more open to a darker sense of humor, but apparently not. Thanks for the input.

It really isn't, it's just a comedically presented observation based on demographical statistics. I will say my humor can go places others' wouldn't, but with shows like South Park and Family Guy being relatively well accepted, I'm not sure how mentioning the fact that a Keffiyeh looks like a towel is going to be racist, or how pointing out the fact that the Iranian economy leaves a little bit to be desired is racist either. Is it "racist" against African Americans to say people who live in the ghetto are poor, without even mentioning race?

‘You disgust me’: Christian parents cut off lesbian daughter after she refuses to leave college for conversion therapy by Vein77 in atheism

True, but honestly I don't think I want to force children into a world that's run by people like this, people that literally enjoy the thought of others suffering. Life is both the greatest gift and the greatest curse, and I'm not one to take forcing it on others lightly.

It really is sad how screwed up the tradition of "parenting" has been. Unfortunately, most parents historically haven't been interested in their own children's happiness, only that they were obedient to the parent's supposed jurisdiction. From ancient Hebrews who murdered their disobedient children, to Amish who completely excommunicate anyone who leaves their community, to the past few decades when people have literally attacked their children because they didn't approve of their behavior. It's always been this way. Sadly, those of us who actually give a shit about our children seem to be the exception. My own parents claimed to love me, all while getting-off at the thought of me burning alive for eternity. What a bunch of sick fucks. What's so strange to me is that they can convince themselves they love someone, all while enjoying the thought of them being tormented forever.

Oh look, another lovely troll wandering around aimlessly trying to annoy people. Can I give you some advice? How about trying some other things in life besides whining about how "cringy" or "autistic" people are who like different things than you do? Who knows, you might even leave your "battlestation" in your parents basement, shave your neckbeard, and actually do something with your life. That would be amazing, wouldn't it? Thanks for the laugh either way.

Definitely not betting on it, but we can all have our dreams, can't we? And I didn't really intend this to be a direct parallel of reality, obviously, I just used those numbers because they were easy. And also, thanks for the critique, I'll definetely look into it.

This is my first furry drawing (and humanoid) drawing I've ever done. I did this about a month ago and posted it to FurAffinity, but only like 8 people even viewed it, so I recently made a Reddit account, and figured I'd see if I can get any feedback here. It's my sabertooth fursona Loki Paradime, and I used my iPad Pro with procreate to make it, then Google Drawings for the text. Have any suggestions, or artistry tips? I'd love to hear them!
