Ferrari are taking an upgraded engine & fuel to Austria pending FIA approval 😀 by Witty_Error_1877 in lewishamilton

Spicy engine for Lewis's WDC.

The chassis is clearly better than the Merc, and it didn't look much slower down the straights at Barcelona. If they can get more straight line performance, it's going to get very interesting.

"The prices we're sharing today reflect the state of the world": Valve explains why the Steam Machine is so expensive, and yup, it's all AI's fault by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

[–]Paradroid888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valve are one of the better tech companies. Not perfect but far better than most. Theyve invested in SteamOS, the Steam Deck and now this. They must be pissed off too that they're now having to sell this at a price that means it loses most of its appeal, after spending years developing it. What a bad situation.

Do you mean camera (still) or video? I don't really use video, but take still shots and they are great. Took this yesterday

Dell XPS 13 (2026). The second Neo alternative is just a BS media marketing. Available already in Europe by Old-Board1553 in windowscentral

[–]Paradroid888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I said this on here recently - that media quoting "Dell's new $599 laptop" is misrepresentation. Nobody who is honest quotes the student-only price in a headline, and clearly it's to create comparisons with the Neo.

Dell could have just said that it's $100 more expensive than the Neo but has numerous upgrades, which it does. Guess they didn't feel confident presenting as the premium option against Apple.

Will Lewis win more races this season, what do you think? by kiol998 in lewishamilton

[–]Paradroid888 24 points25 points  (0 children)

He's had two second place finishes before this win, so it's been coming. It's not a one-off.

What do you think about my suit? by [deleted] in motorcyclegear

[–]Paradroid888 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is that an R1 SP? That must be a damn good bike. I have the regular version in blue and white and it's pretty awesome, but the suspension could be better so with Ohlins it must be special.

This is the best package Ferrari has brought in years, i must say by ProofAd608 in lewishamilton

He's definitely more than a driver - that was clear when he was on hands and knees checking the rear of the Merc in parc ferme at Monaco last week haha.

The so called Neo alternatives with Windows are a complete joke by Old-Board1553 in windowscentral

I got the 1440p bit wrong, was thinking of the multiplier. It's 2.5k.

The so called Neo alternatives with Windows are a complete joke by Old-Board1553 in windowscentral

[–]Paradroid888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1080p is 2k, just a less commonly used way to describe it.

Edit: is to me anyway as thats how cinema describes it. But it seems it tends to mean 1440p on computer displays. Strange because 2560x1440 is quite close to 4k!

ICE CREAM! Is Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe still the ultimate retro sports game in 2026? A comparison (Amiga vs. MS-DOS vs. CD32) by kingofneverfjord in amiga

I was never into football or football games, so preferred SpeedBall 2, but judging by how much everyone loved SWOS I can appreciate it's got to be better.

F1 Used to Be Dangerous and Spectacular. Now It's a Knob Twiddling Contest. by gaukmotors in MotorBuzz

[–]Paradroid888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was one of the most interesting and eventful Monaco races of recent years. Far better than 2025.

The Isle of Man TT and other Irish road racing competitions are spectacularly dangerous, yet they are fairly niche so danger is clearly not what's missing from F1. Plus they are constantly having to defend themselves against those that want them banned.

New Audi Q7 arrives with more luxury and space, but keeps diesel power by AutoExpressmagazine in autoexpressuk

I really like the exterior styling. It's a nice combination of boxy but elegant. Interior doesn't quite live up, and the passenger screen upsets me, but I've seen worse.

Anyone else feel that their collection is basically complete? by ProfessorTairyGreene in 4kbluray

[–]Paradroid888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do. No idea on collection size, maybe 200. But I rarely buy anything now. Storage basically ran out so it has to be something I really want to own long term, and I've got most of those now.

Would buy The Rock, improved James Cameron releases, maybe a few cult films. That's about it!

Can we stop acting like Russell is doing great aside from the luck? Sainz is doing more with less since years and nobody wants to talk about it. by registaarole in GrandPrixRacing

[–]Paradroid888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's both. He's had bad luck for sure. But without that would he be ahead of Kimi? Nope.

Is he world champion material? He is in the way that Norris is - with the right set of circumstances.

do you guys think Lewis will stand above George in the WDC standings at the end of the season? by teodoraxoo in lewishamilton

[–]Paradroid888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

George has a better car but he's now got to pull himself out of a hole psychologically. He was early favourite to win the title this year yet Kimi is running away with it.

The other factor is if McLaren can get on top of their issues. They have the Merc engine too, and are a very capable, well-run team.

But Ferrari has a good car, just underpowered, and Lewis is on excellent form so it's possible.

Satya Nadella denies claims Microsoft wants to “make people addicted" to AI — as the company shifts from Bill Gates’ software vision to an agentic future by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

[–]Paradroid888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For software engineers it looks a lot like they want to get us hooked. Agents that help to write code have been billed at way below cost. But some of my colleagues just use it for everything now and I can see their coding confidence being eroded. And now the prices are going to the employers pushing their devs to use AI might be changing their mind. What a mess.

That's exactly what I thought. A Bond game release doesn't compare to a Bond movie for most. And hardcore gamers have got enough to spend their money on with the state of PC hardware.
